I guess you need to watch the games to see how good a defender he truely is.People could make a case for those players you mentioned but he is still an all NBA team in defense player.
Yeah Kirilenko is great, he is the best defensive player this year. I must say one thing though, everyone is talking about Earl Boykins, I mean, I love him (in a non sexual way), he's amazing, but I don't think he's good enough to be considered sixth man of the year, there are better player's out there. He's an amazing player, but he's just not like good enough to be sixth man, everyone is getting over hyped cause he's small.(Yet so am I.)
MVP Kevin Garnett All NBA Team Guard-Jason Kidd Guard- Baron Davis Forward- Kevin Garnett Forward- Tim Duncan Center-Shaq Defensive player Ben Wallace All Defense Team Ron Artest Bruce Bowen Kevin Garnett Andrei Kirilenko Ben Wallace Rookie- Carmelo Rookie Team Lebron Wade Carmelo Bosh Kaman Coach- Jerry Sloan Sixth man- Antawn Jamison Most Improved- Zach Randolph
MVP - KG. You guys know why, and I don't wanna rehash. All NBA 1st team g - Baron Davis g - Allen Iverson f - Kevin Garnett f - Tim Duncan c - Shaq Defensive Player - Ron Artest. He takes guys out of the game with his defense, making them play 4 on 5. Easily shuts down all but the toughest offensive players, and gives the toughest a hard time. All Defensive Team Ron Artest Baron Davis Andrei Kirilenko Tim Duncan Ben Wallace Rookie - as of now, Lebron. (Melo will get it at the end) All Rookie Team Bron Melo Wade Ford Bosh Coach - Jerry Sloan. Look at the CoY thread for reasons Sixth Man - Jamison. Scores and rebounds in bunches off the bench Most Improved - Zach Randolph. Only guy avg. 20-10 who wasn't even averaging 10-5 last year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting purehoops:</div><div class="quote_post">:tear: All the love for Garnett. </div> how cant you love garnett? he does it all, and if someone doesnt think he should be at least top 3 in MVP voting they are insane. ( I believe he is the clear-cut mvp, but others might argue)
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WhiteManCanJump:</div><div class="quote_post">how cant you love garnett?</div> I hope that question is rethorical and not directed to me.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dexter:</div><div class="quote_post">Tim Duncan is a very good defender however as of right now he is not top 3. I could make a strong case that Ron Artest, Ben Wallace, and Andrei Kirilenko are the three best defenders right now in the league.</div> Agreed. Duncan is not a top 3 defender, but he is a very good one. But I could still take Artest, Ben Wallace, Kirilenko, and maybe KG and Iverson.
Duncan's post D is as good as it gets. But that is as far as it goes. Ben Wallace, Ron Artest, AK47 and KG all can play post D as well as they play out on the permitier.
I wouldn't say Wallace is a perimeter defender: he really isn't fast enough to guard perimeter offensive players. He does get loads of steals for a big man, but they're usually off other big guys. I agree Duncan isn't one of the top 3, but he's definitely one of the top 5 defenders. He'll be on the defensive 1st team again, if only for all the swats he racks up.
If I see one more person spell "Carmelo" like "Carmello" I will suspend them...j/k Nice way to show support to "your" ROY by misspelling his name, lol. Melo: 18.7 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.23 spg, .390 FG% Bron: 20.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 6.1 apg, 1.58 stp, .426 FG% Last 10 games Den: 6-4 Cle: 5-5 (Cle finally has some vets now) Just figured I would point that out  As for the awards.... MVP: KG Defensive Player: AK47 (Artest is slippin') 6th Man: Earl Boykins Coach: Jeff Bzdelik Most Improved: Not Randolph, he has been good. Comeback: Vin Baker
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ANiMuS:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm the only one that compiled 2nd and 3rd Teams? Gah, I'm such a loser...</div> Yah you are. No man, I'm just joking. I'm betting that a lot of people here are just to lazy to do so.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RAPSALLTHEWAY!!:</div><div class="quote_post">I think TMAC or AI should win mvp though. No offense on all u KG fans.</div> Right. Tracy can't lead the Magic to a .500 record, and you think he deserves the MVP over Duncan, Garnett, Shaq, and Kobe? Not this year, but you could have put up that case last year. And Iverson doesn't really deserve it, but he is a candidate, for sure.
Look at the Twolves lineup compared to the Magic. Twolves have like 6 good or star players. Magic have Howard TMAC and ......................................... i mean comon. Its like a tie,KG does good in the categorys that big men are usually on the top and Tmac does good on alot of categorys sg or sf would usually be on the top, i mean KG i think usually plays pf and im not sure but sometimes plays sf and TMAC plays sg or sf how can u compare.
Orlando has plenty of talent, that is nonsense, Gooden, Giricek, and Howard can get the job done and give T-Mac the help he needs. A lot of teams would kill to have Eric Snow. The Big Dog has been a proven player since he has been in the league as well. Phili has been banged up, big time, injuries happen.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RAPSALLTHEWAY!!:</div><div class="quote_post">TWolves lineup is still better than Magics.</div> I understand where you are coming from, but you have to understand that it will never be fair. Wins are not the only thing that is looked at, it is about what that player does for that team. McGrady has embarrassed himself this season countless times with his poor attitude and public comments, you cannot say that has not effected his teams chances of winning more ball games, that is not an MVP.
