i think i stopped em but every now and then i get stupid pop ups from this meesenger service.... nows heres the irony... they are programmed to STOP popups! they seem to always come... but never go away .... i keep searching junk for instructions.... but everything costs money..... somebody please help me

Try installing SpyBot and/or Ad-Aware and running them. They'll find all of the bots and ad programs (pop ups, etc.) and remove them for you. Spyware sucks. You can get spybot from http://www.safer-networking.org You can get Ad Aware from http://www.lavasoft.com
i already tried the lava soft.... GF1 installed it for me and it didnt work.... oh and dawk, i know its spyware
Oh if this is what you mean by popups: http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/docs/messagepopup/ it's not spyware it's a built in function of XP that anyone can use to send you messages if they have your IP. Try doing what that says to disable it, it's useless and Microsoft somehow thought they should include it with XP. Does that solve it?
