Nowitzki for Tractor Traylor ended up being a pretty retarded trade for whoever it was that made it.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting snailtrail83:</div><div class="quote_post">Stockton and Malone are definately steals as well.
One of the best trades is when the bulls aquired Scottie Pippen for Olden Polynice and some low draft picks.</div>

Good call SnailTrail83, I think Brad Sellers was also in that deal somewhere? He was considered the better player of the two at that time. I had never heard of Scottie at the time, who knew?? [IMG]

Well, as Sir Desmond mentioned the biggest draft steal of Ben Wallace. Anybody could have gotten him for free! For trades, I personally like the Allen/Payton trade. The Bucks basically got nobody, even if they did get GP for the rest of the season.

I wouldn't say nobody exactly, Desmond Mason is a decent player. But in retrospect, the Bucks got fleeced pretty badly, considering they also gave up Ronald Murray in that deal. OUCH! - Then again, this is the team that decided Robert Traylor would be a better pro than Dirk Nowitzki. [IMG]

    1) LA- Kobe for Vlade

    2) Dallas- Steve Nash for Bubba Wells. And Dirk for Traylor.

    3) Boston-Paul Pierce dropping to them in the 98 draft.

    4) Mike Finley going late first round of the 95 draft.

    5) Nets-Jason Collins, Richard Jefferson, Brandon Armstrong & Eddie Griffen for nobody.( You dont get much better than this one).

These are just a couple that come to mine.

I didn't mean exactly nobody. But at the very least Ronald Murray cancels him out. That is like getting Ray Allen for free!

Nash for Bubba Wells would have been a HUUUGE steal, except for the fact that a 1st round draft pick was also sent to phoenix who then drafted Shawn Marion.

How about Antoine Walker for Raef Laefrentz and Jiri Welch? The Celtics lost thier 2nd best player, who is a good 3pt shooter and one of the best passing forwards in the league and added a good RPer in Welch and filled a spot on the injury list with Raefer. And the celtics saved no money or cap space.

Now Walker is 9th overall in the league for rebounding, ranks 10th in double-doubles and is also dropping 20 points and 5 assists per game for mark cuban.

I still can't believe anyone wanted Raef Lafrentz on thier roster at all and the C's gave up a borderline all-star for him.

You Know I had my man Sam with the 24 pick in the 93 draft. But I didnt list it in my top 5 earlier, because where in 2004 now, so that was just outside the topic range. But if this was last week, he would have been my #2. I mean he was as big apart of those championship teams in Houston, as anyone else outside of Hakeem. 23pts & 7ast as a rookie in a NBA finals game against the Kniicks in 94. He killed the Knicks that series. And scoring the last seven points in the series clinching game against the Magic in '95 finals. The list goes on for his contributions to those Championship teams. And we all Know what type of carreer he has had. So he was mos def a steal with the 24th pick. He has helped make alot of teams competive over the years.

I'd have to agree there, if say KG were there, they would've won a championship there. Having Spree and Cassell together, younger to boot, that would've been pure hoops, simply classic.

Naw it wasnt Shawn Marion, It was the Draft rights to pat Garrity.

For those talking about the Kobe deal with Charlotte. Wasn't that the one where he refused to play for charlotte so they were forced to trade him?

Kenny Thomas was at the 22nd pick. And I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Steve Francis for Michael Dickerson trade. Even though the truth was that Francis didn't want to play for Vancouver, the Grizz could have gotten a way better player than Dickerson for him, and Dickerson is now done in by injuries.

Michael Finley at #21 in 1995 (Phoenix) was a pretty good steal where Shawn Respert was taken at #8 by Portland.

I think Mehmet Okur was a huge draft steal for Detroit, especially if he continues to develop the way he has been. They took him in the second round of the 2001 draft, 38th overall. He is now, in his sophmore year, their starting center.

Edit: Another steal for the Pistons: Grant Hill for Ben Wallace and Chucky Atkins. It was a bit of a risk at the time, but who would you rather have on your team now?
