this team is abmisal.. a trade by 1/7 a warriors insider leaked the info on another warriors board.. it's gonna happen... i have faith in mullin takin' care of ish.. because SOMETHING has to change.. and soon.. otherwise.. we're effed...
This is good to hear. We need a change, badly. This team is now moving in the wrong direction. I can't wait for Chris Mullin to be the Warriors GM. Who do you think will be traded and for who?
nick will go to new york, ward and thomas to atlanta, chris crawford and jason terry to golden state... also, probably a few picks...
That's interesting... what do you guys feel about Jason Terry? I'm not too familiar with his game, except that he's known for being more of a shoot-first point guard. But is that what the Warriors need right now? I don't know... all I know is that they need SOMETHING to lift them past the hump. If that means getting rid of Nick, I'm all for it as long as it helps the team.
I love NVE, but he has just looked horrible these past few games...you can tell that he is unhappy. Jason Terry has proved how good he can be and that would be a great move for the Warriors IMO. Not only would we get a more mobile PG in Terry, but he could be our future.
Wow, okay. IF NVE is truly unhappy, and IF he wants out, this would be a great pickup for the Warriors. Here, we get a young, proven talent, who would probably be happy to get out of Atlanta. Does anyone know Jason Terry's contract situation?
Heh. Before the season and at the beginning of the season I was seeing a whole bunch of articles in the paper saying how happy NVE was and how he represents the team's character and how he will lead the team to the playoffs, etc. Looks like it was a bunch of crock. About Terry, I'd rather have the Warriors stay with an unhappy NVE than Terry. Either that or deal him for something better. Terry plays NO defense at all. No one questions his offensive skills, but he just refuses to play defense. Some people questions his decision making process as well. I don't think Terry would be the answer at PG for the Warriors.

With Terry, you have a younger Terry and hopefully a happy one after leaving the Hawks.

I would go ahead and make this deal, NVE is a better point guard now and usually keeps Warriors in games with his clutch shooting, but the Warriors are slipping, and they could use a future PG with good offensive skills. Makes sense, because didn't NVE want to go to the Knicks in the first place? Also lets not forget Terry is in his contract year though, I hope the Warriors can get that commitment from him to consider re-signing if the trade goes down.
I'd make the deal. The only side that seems to lose is Atlanta, since they already have both a 4 and a 5, seemingly leaving Kurt Thomas out of the loop. But they're trying to slash salaries, and I think Thomas' runs out after the season, giving the Hawks more cap room... So I guess it's a good trade. For all three teams. The big winners, of course, would be New York. Isiah'd be getting that scoring point he loves, and point is the only weak link in the Knicks starting five. Wow, imagine putting out a lineup of pg Nick Van Exel sg Allan Houston sf Keith Van Horn pf Antonio McDyess c Dikembe Mutombo Of course, I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees that this would be a much better lineup to have had 5 years ago.

Might be just a matter of time until NVE is unhappy, again.
I dont think this deal going to happen. Why would the knicks do any more deals involving PG's. They just add Norris. I think they are happy with Frank Williams who recently took over the starting spot from howard Eisley. And Moochie Norris will be his back up. I think Kurt thomas And Charlie Ward or Howard Eisley will be traded before the deadline but not for another point guard. And if the Knicks planned on trading Kurt Thomas for a PG why would they let John Amechi go. With the trade of Whetherspoon & (now if this deal is true) Kurt thomas, the Knicks big men spot start to get real weak. Mcdyess & Mutombo don't really play alot of minutes. And all those young big men that the Knicks got in the draft like Mike Sweetney etc. Arent really ready to play major backup minutes at those big men spots. So that would leave the Knicks with only Othella Harrington as their only legit option off the bench at the bigman spots. So I dont see this trade happening anymore. It probably would have happen if Isiah had become the GM earlier in the season. I think if the Knicks do trade Kurt Thomas they are going to try & get a young athletic type of a player not a point guard.
It seems to me that the 2 teams that are frequently involved in rumors are Knicks and the Warriors... what happened to the rumors about Rasheed Wallace going to GS? If I was Mullin and I had the chance to either trade for Wallace or Terry, I'd pursue Wallace and see what would happen.

Warriors need a upgrade somewhere that can help them in a playoff run. Sure, maybe Van Exel for Terry would help the team chemistry wise, but I don't see that as much of an upgrade that could win them more games imo.

Terry is nothing special, he's a decent scorer, but as sunsfan noted, isn't particularly fond of playing defense. This would be nothing more than a lateral move for the Warriors at best.

Terry is a young exciting player with a lot of potential. He could give the Warriors something NVE can't, a future. Maybe you are just looking at the NOW, but I believe he could make a big impact now aswell as in the future.
If i were the Warriors, i'd rather have Terry. Terry is a better -Scorer (17.2 ppg to 13.3) -Rebounder (4.2 rpg to 2.5) -Defender (1.38 spg to .48) -3pt shooter (.326 to .317) -Overall Shooter (.445 to .410) -Free Throw Shooter(.816 to .688) Sure you can make the debate that stats arent everything, but Jason Terry is clearly outplaying Nick Van Exel both on offense and defense.

Golden State would benefit much more from having a quality, pass-first guard in the fold. Don't get me wrong, Terry is a decent player. But with J-Rich in the backcourt, I would rather see them pick up somebody with a greater desire to distribute the ball. Terry would just be competing with Richardson to see who could put up the most shots on a nightly basis. It's just my opinion, but I don't like JT at the PG spot. Just as a sidenote: where does Mickael Pietrus fit into that mix in Oakland? He's a swingman, but with Richardson and Dunleavy occupying those spots, he'll never get a shot to start in that lineup. Would the Warriors actually consider trading one of those two players in order to make room for Mickael in a couple of years when he's ready for some substantial PT?
