<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Mavericks are a different team this season, an obvious fact that has been occasionally painful to accept. How different? The numbers in this case give a pretty fair indication. Last season, the Mavericks were 4-0 against the Clippers, Warriors, Nuggets, Rockets and Grizzlies. That's 20-0 against the dregs of the Western Conference. They were only 14-18 against the rest of the conference. This season, they are 4-4 against the same five teams. That includes going 0-2 against the Clippers. The Mavericks have lost once to the Nuggets and Grizzlies, both on the road. Conversely, Dallas was 6-10 last season against the quartet of Spurs, Lakers, Wolves and Kings. This year, they are 5-3 against those teams. "We're a different team," said Steve Nash. "We have a totally different character. We win and lose games in different ways now."</div> Yes I agree. How are they going to loose to the "mediocre" teams, but beat the "contender teams" They Lost to the Lakers(2) and the Timberwolves(1). Its weird how they are this season. I think if they play with the same intensity, they play against those teams, they would be clearly atop the Midwest. Full Story
you have to remember that the rest of the western conference has gotten better *memphis, Sonics, Nuggets, Wolves* while Dallas has made some big roster moves but hasnt had much improvement. Its not that the Mavs are worse necessarily, but because they have more competition from everyone in the conference. go beat up on the east then youll feel better.

Even the Lakers have lost to teams they should have beaten, thats just the way it goes.
