Raptors vs. Suns vs Toronto Raptors vs. Phoenix Suns January 4, 2003 1:00pm EST Air Canada Centre Toronto: 16-15, fourth in Central Phoenix: 12-21, seventh in Pacific Probable Starters: PG: Jalen Rose/Stephon Marbury SG: Alvin Williams/Joe Johnson SF: Vince Carter/Shawn Marion PF: Donyell Marshall/Donnell Harvey C: Chris Bosh/Jake Voskuhl The Toronto Raptors will try to rebound against the Phoenix Suns following a tough loss against the New Orleans Hornets on Friday. In order to win, the Raptors will need to start off strong, which is something that certainly didn't happen when they hosted the Hornets. Another crucial point that should be brought up is the Raptors can't rely on forced jumpshots to win. Slashing at the basket and getting to the line is a must. Prediction: Raptors by 5. -this post will soon be updated.
Bosh and Donyell should win the Matchup vs Harvey and Voskuhl. Atleast Bosh wont get beaten by Jake. Last time I saw Harvey he couldn't even play alot of minutes because hes out of shape. I say Raptors by 6.
Actually....the Suns have a pretty good chance to win this one because i think Steph and Joe will dominate both Alvin and Rose in terms of quickness and athleticism. If Marbury plays good and leads his team well...watch out. This one could be close, but in the end i'll say Raps by 4.

yeah ..Marbury will be guarded by Alvin to match his quickness .. Vince needs to explode in this game .. he can't have a quite night, and he had many of them the last couple of weeks !
Seeing as everyone is backing the Raptors, Im going to go with Pheonix. Marbury will have a good game. Pheonix by 4.
Raps by 8 and Vince scores 35, Bosh aint gonna have a good game cause his confidence is way low right now, did you see him on the bench last game with Vince CArter he looked like he was crying
I think the matchup is bad if its rose/starbury, alvin/johnson. I think it should be the other way around.. and Bosh will beat Jake.....so in the end i predict raptors by 3.
First half is over .. Raptors up 37-33 Vince is leading the way with 15 points including a nice tomahawk jam Jalen is having a good game with 8 points , 2 assissts, 2 rebounds ! Donyell and Bosh each with 8 rebounds ! for the Suns .. Marbury with 7 points, Matrix with 7 points, and 9 rebounds the Raptors are forcing the Suns to play half court offence, and they made a 5-0 run because of consecutive turnovers ... Raptors are shooting 40%, and holding the suns to 35% the second half is about to start ..
Donyell Is the Difference for Raptors Donyell Marshall recorded 15 points and 15 rebounds as the Toronto Raptors pulled away late for an 83-73 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Marshall's 3-pointer snapped a 55-55 tie with 27 seconds left in the third quarter and ignited a 20-6 spurt that allowed the Raptors to take control. Marshall had seven points during the run. Vince Carter scored 23 points for Toronto, which won for only the fourth time in its last 11 games and improved to 1-1 on a five-game homestand. Stephon Marbury scored 17 points and Joe Johnson added 14 for the Suns. Shawn Marion contributed 11 and 14 rebounds. Phoenix fell to 1-2 on its five-game road trip and has dropped five of its last seven.
Good Game by the Raptors. The Suns hung in the game tho. I dont see why Lonny Baxter didn't play he would of matched up with Jahidi White good. Jahidi smoked Bosh a few times.
Yeah...i was just about to say why Baxter didn't get on at all, he definitely would've helped us.I was disappointed with Carter in the 2nd half cause i thought he was gonna explode and go for about 35 in the game + he only had 1 assist...not like him at all. Still...GOOD GAME + it's good that we had a good start and played good, consistent basketball throughout the majority of the game.
Not necessarily. Anyway, yes, Donyell Marshall has made a huge difference in the Raptors' team as a whole - moreso than Jalen Rose. Marshall is a great rebounder, and provides a good Eastern conference team to be better able to compete by having a good (and experienced) PF. Hell, as you can see from tonight, he rebounds as much as he scores, and rarely do you see him with under double figures in either category. He's also a good defender, seeing how he gets several blocks and a couple steals each night. And whenever they go man to man, Donyell slows the roles of the opponents, especially in the Eastern Conference. The only downside that I see in this is it makes the rookie Chris Bosh play Center, after he'd already grown comfortable with PF. He'll adjust, soon, but he needs to get stronger.

it was an exciting game to watch, i partly agree to Donyell's success. But he could have played a lot better.
