I won't give Thomas that much credit yet, fact is he could not have messed up the Knicks situation any more than what it already was. Marbury has been traded 5 times in his career, but overall I think this is a safe gamble, the Knicks can win some games now, get in the playoffs, and sell some tickets.

I like the deal for both sides, and boy did this just come out of left field.

Whoa dont set your standards to high for the Knicks the reality of the Knicks going to the playoffs. With the season almost half way in you thinnk Marbury and Penny Hardaway will lead them to the playoffs. Maybe they will finish above .500.

I never thought i would be buyinh a NY Knick Jersey...this trade is amazing, and it is only a sign of teh changes to come in NY, Thomas said he wasnt happy with Lampe and Mcdyess, and he wants to see how Sweetney will perform, I guess Kurt Thomas is safe where he is.

    This is the eastern conference

    A line-up of

    Marbury
    Houston
    Van Horn
    Thomas
    Mutombo

Is good enough for a playoff spot. They are only a few games back...while they have been playing pretty good lately. On Paper they are a top 5-6 east team....As long as they play togeather a playoff spot should be expected.

Finishing above .500 is almost a sure ticket to the playoffs in the Eastern conference...

Honestly as a New Jersey Nets fan, I have to agree 100%. Marbury is not a winner, He is a stat hog. And adding him to players like(houston, Van Horn) who have a tend to shy away from aggressive players /and teamates could be a mix that doesnt work. These current knicks arent use to playing with a point guard that takes more shots than them(with the exception of Kieth Van Horn, who played with Marbury in Jersey & admitted on several occasions after steph got traded, that he hated playing with Marbury). Rick Mejaris, Kieth Van Horn's college coach even trashed Marbury in a local news paper saying that Van Horn was never the same player after he played with Van Horn for those 2 seasons. So how is Van Horn, who starting to play well as a knick, going to react to playing with Steph again. And Houston ,who was known for shying away from the offense when sprewell was their chucking up shots, How is he going to react to playing with a player who is similar to spree? This was a move that was 100% for the Knick fans. The Garden was starting to empty and get boring. And Thomas just filled it back up by doing this trade. He just better hope it doesnt back fire on him in the long run.

You really think Mutumbo will stay healthy for the rest of the season? You think Marbury can adjust to the East like that? After this trade do you think anyone on the Knicks is safe from a trade? You also must think Van Horn and Kurt Thomas will help lead the Knicks to the playoffs?

I love getting Marbury. Is the trade official yet? I keep hearing conflicting things about the draft pick, and who the Knicks get along with Starbury. So long as it isn't our first round pick, the trade is a steal. Perhaps some people owe Isiah some favors, and he's cashing them in. Now they gotta get rid of Van Horn and get Artest somehow. For those of you who prefer good citizens, move to Utah.

Mutumbo has been fine so far.He isn't being forced to play 30 minutes a game so him getting injuried won't be an issue. If Marbury can put up 20,4 and 8 in the tough western conference he should have no problem going up against teams in the east.Adjusting isn't an issue here either.

Van Horn is playing maybe his best basketball of his career.Thomas is one of the most underrated big men in the east...Very soild in what he does for that team.

So yes Knicks should make the playoffs. If they don't... then it will come down purely to bad coaching.

If the Knicks can get it together quickly, they will get into the Playoffs. Otherwise they'll just miss out on the playoffs. If they don't get in the playoffs this season, they're gonna be in there next season. This was a huge trade for NY, and Isiah couldn't be doing any better so far.

Wow...how did Isiah ever get the Suns to agree to that? He's been with the Knicks for, what, a week, and already he improves the team more than Layden did in his entire tenure with the team. The Knicks just improved a great deal for a few reasons. First, we all know McDyess isn't the player he once was after the whole knee business. Also, Marbury has always wanted to come home and play in New York, so if he likes it he'll probably re-sign. The Knicks will be set for years. Finally, Penny Hardaway will bring energy off the bench that the Knicks will appreciate and the Suns will miss. They got so robbed.

While the Knicks did get a lot, the Suns are better off. They werent making the playoffs and now theyll have so much cap room. Theyll cut ward and get rid of mcdyess after the year. Yeah eisley is a waste but every team has a waste, i.e. lamond murray or chris mills. The point is, with lampe, vujanic, marion, amare, jacobson and maybe KOBE, they look much better.
