Shawn Kemp "THE REIGNMAN" best dunker By far, I think is one of the greatest game-dunkers out there. This dude was a towering 6'10, and had great handles, would go coast to coast and posterize the opponent with a sky-high slam dunk. He had great scoring ability, rebounding skills, and was great with steals and had great blocks. With his flat-top, he conquered his opponents with his offensive and defensive ability. GARY Payton would fling the ball into the air as the REIGN man came thundering down. I have seen no body like him, they might be close, but this guy would dunk it all the time. Question: If Kemp didn't mess up his career (if he was at his prime)...How would he fit it with today's league? HE IS THE GREATEST DUNKER IN GAMES!!!!!!!! GRACE, POWER AND CHARISMA. NOBODY PLAYS LIKE HIM, NOBODY
Kemp was one of the most exciting players of the 90's. He was finally starting to reach his full potential when his alcohol problems took over his life..too bad. I loved the dunk he ad on Rodman in the finals where he sat on Worm's head LOL
yes yes...shawn kemp was great...but u also gotta give love to MJ and Dominique.......now those were some great dunkers
Kemp was a beast in his hayday but to say the best dunker ever is a stretch. But I will give the fact that he was on of the best at dunking on people. But when it came to showcase dunking like at the SLam DunK competions he wasnt all that good.
Shawn Kemp represents the tragedy of not being in control of your impulses; we think nothing when the same happens to average folks like us. That said, you're damn right about Kemp being an amazing dunk artist. I once saw drive the baseline, throw the rock into the air with one hand, then jump and catch the ball with two hands and reverse dunk it. Incredible.

Like the original post said, he was a great game-dunker, I enjoyed watching him play, was one of my favorite players. Its just a shame he had to go out like that.
People see flash and hangtime as the best dunking. I see it as power and aggression. Like Duncan and Shaq. Throwing it down with power. The End.

Any big man can throw it down with power, but it takes good athelticism to get high up in the air, and then come and do some fancy dunk. That's almost like saying you rather see a dunk thrown down with power more than you would like to see a Dr. J type dunk.

It brings back memories....I used to love watching him...He wouldn't win a slamdunk contest but he surely can dunk on your face...Kinda like K-Mart these days...
He used to be tight, until he became a drug feen who was addicted to crack and potato chips. But honestly, he could have been one of those players who are on their way to the hall of fame, but he ruined his career and hes gonna have to deal with it. Back when he was in Sea-town he was dope though, but, hes over.

People sat at the edge of their seats all throughout gametime because they knew at any time, Kemp could strike with thunder or lightning. Guys like Shaq had more power, MJ had more grace (this early/mid 90's here) but Kemp was the best at that time. You young fellas think Vince Carter now in terms of what dunking has done for his career, same effect for Kemp. Kemp had one great season here in Cleveland before it started to unravel slowly. The strike season (1998-99) is when he was at his worst, I remember the game that was on Showtime (cable) and the man just looked like the Goodyear Blimp. PS: No one touched Dr.J, Wilkins, or MJ in their prime (sorry Vince, you have to be healthy and do it for a little bit longer)

It was the epitome of creativity,style and entertainment and because all the top dogs were in it,it did indeed mean alot to the players and the fans. The way the players act when it comes to the DC it tells you alot...that they truly don't care about the fans,the people they pay them the big bucks. For an example of 'Nique's dunks..I'll tell ya this...in '85 I believe it was the Hawks were playin' the Bucks and the Bucks were up by like 18 in the 4th. Now it must be said that the Bucks and Hawks were 1 and 2 in the Central,the Bucks had been playin' hard D all night and Moncrief and Cummings had held 'Nique to like 10 points thus far. It was Kevin Willis I think that shot the ball and missed..the ball bounced high in the air and hit the court untouched..out of nowhere 'Nique catches the ball off the first bounce abd skies to the basket and throws down a thunderous dunk,knocking Terry Cummings on his butt pretty hard. On the inbound from Pressey(i think Paul Pressey was the 1 for them then) Ricky Pierce ends up dribbling it off his foot as soon as he crossed the half court mark and Doc ends up scoopin' it up..Doc sees 'Nique rocketing toward the basket along with Moncrief..Doc throws a perfect bounce pass...again Nique catches the ball off the first bounce and takes off. Now Moncrief was back far enough to be able to defend if it were anyone else,but 'Nique comes thundering down with his best Dr.J 'Rock The Cradle' impersonation and puts ol Sidney on his butt too! Now people may think it's nothing special because stuff like that happens routinely,but the Bucks were one of the elite teams of the East and those two dunks completely demoralized the D because of the power and the fact they came from out of nowhere. The Bucks ended up giving up 14 unanswered points and ultimately lost by almost ten.
