In shocking news [IMG] the NBA named Cleveland Cavaliers guard LeBron James NBA Rookie Of The Month for December in the Eastern Conference. James put up 23.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.93 steals while shooting .435% from the field and .828% from the FT line. James was also the winner for Oct/Nov.

Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony received honors in the Western Conference for the second consecutive month as well.

No surprises there, but Melo is probably lucky Dwyane Wade plays in the East and not the West. He had a super month too.

This was expected. I say he's going to get Rookie of The Month in the East Until the season is over. Then Rookie Of the Year IMO.

2 months in a row for Lebron! The Kid is the real deal!!!

Put Lebron on a team with somemore Vets and he would be killing Carmello even worst then now!

Lebron played against kids.. little boys who will never make it to a real college program (for the most part).. Carmello played against the best in college for a year!

Lebron figured out the NBA (for the most part) in less then 2 months! sure there is a TON to learn still!! BUT come on Lebron is amazing

Stop the stupid Melo/Bron comparisons. Your making Carmelo sound like a scumbag, and LeBron like a god. They are both good players.

This is starting to get into one of those LeBron is better than Carmelo and Vice Versa threads. I hope it doesn't. I would hate to see it close.

    It won't, because I won't let it.

And people, please spell his name right! It's Carmelo.

    Carmello...Jk KJ

I think Bron has the advantage because of this slump Melo has been going through, Bron is sensational, and with Wagner back, it should take some of the load of off Lebron, this is either going to be a tight rookie race, if Melo gets his game straight, or Melo continues to slump, and Bron wins it by a blow out, either way, they are both amazing players with amazing talent and will headline the NBA for years to come.

Carmelo should get rookie of the year but he wont, think about it Denver already has 3 more wins then they did all of last year the Cavs are 7 games from that.

Lebron is so dominant, it's hard to believe he's a rookie. Especially with everyone watching him, and knowing that everyone is watching him, he has been better than any rookie this year. He's been better than many veterans, too. I wouldn't be surprised if he won this every month. Actually, I would be somewhat surprised if anyone else won.

I don't think you'll have to worry too much about that.

If Carmelo picks up his play and LeBron continues to play how he is, it will be CO Rookies, possibly even a Tri-Rookie of the year(is that possible) with the way DWYANE Wade has been playing before his injury...there are to many good rookies in this class to have just one rookie of the year.

Now the race is not a race at all if we are looking at the last month or so. Lebron has put himself way ahead of the pack, it's not even close. As for the rest, Melo's stock has been plummeting, Wade's has went up, but he got injured again, and Hinrich seems to be getting the most out of his game right now.

I would hate to see what people would be saying about James if he was putting up what Melo has been putting up, because it would be some harsh stuff. James will never stop hearing it, with great numbers and not winning he will hear it, with winning and less numbers he will hear it, it will never end.

    Couldn't have said it better.

I hate comparing Lebron/Carmelo, but face it, they will always be compared and debated.

The past 5 games, Lebron's stats have jumped up. (24.0 Points, 6.4 Assists, 5.8 Rebounds) On the other hand, Anthony's stock has dropped. (14.8 Points, 1.8 Assists, 4.2 Rebounds)

Last month I'd consider Wade a darkhorse for ROY, but thats tough to call now that hes injured.

It's pretty simple, if Lebron keeps this up he will win ROY.

I dont think we are going to see Lebron have many off nights or hitting the rookie wall! Because his game is the type of game that he thinks team first and doesn't have to shoot! When you play like he did against the Knicks and just setting up your Team Mates..

Lebron isn't going to be that off..

sooooo in the long run The Cavs are going to be set!
