Ward is a decent guard,a good shooter while being a good defender. So who will he sign with? wouldn't be surprised to see him going to Houston

They waived Ward?!?! That's even worse than actually trading Marbury!

Actually, this was probably the most obvious move that was going to be made after the trade actually went down.

They'll save a lot of money releasing him now... Bryan Colangelo mentioned it on the Suns pregame show.

He'll probably sign BACK with New York.

Yup, that's probably what he will be. The Rockets probably made sure that he would be waived when they did the Moochie trade with NY.

The Nets are also in the running... since when did Charlie Ward get to be such hot property? I guess teams need a vet backup, and he certainly is that.

I would assume that that's what happend, because why would the Suns release him out of no where for no reason. [IMG]

That's messed up man. They should have just let NY keep him. Why trade for the guy and then release him, that's harsh.

Charlie Ward was waived by the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, one day after they acquired him in an eight-player trade that sent Stephon Marbury to the New York Knicks.

Ward, a 10-year NBA veteran, had been with the Knicks his entire career. He had a clause in his contract allowing it to be bought out before Jan. 10.

The Suns have said they plan to keep Antonio McDyess, Howard Eisley, Maciej Lampe and Milos Vujanic, whose rights they acquired from the Knicks along with two first-round draft picks.

Yeah I see him going to Houston, altho I"ve heard strong reports that New Jersey was supposed to be the frontrunner to get him. But I hope he ends up in Houston...

I see Ward going to the Spurs, provided that it doesn't prove cost prohibitive. The backup guy they have running the point there is garbage.

San Antonio made a mistake in letting Speedy Claxton go.

Actually, it was New York in the first place that pushed Ward into the deal, rather than the other way around. Phoenix clearly doesn't need another point guard if they plan on developing Barbosa, and Eisley is making less than Ward I believe.

Either way, this move isn't surprising at all. I think Ward could end up on a number of teams, since his salary can now go as low as the veterans minimum. Teams will be more willing to deal with a backup of his abilities when not saddled with a bad tag.

^ Yup I agree. Barbosa has potential so it's not that logical to keep Ward. They even saved some money doing so.
