<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Not after last game of course, but those games where he isn't hitting what he should be and getting lazy on D because he knows their not going to win or something, when he does that he brings the team down, he needs to be punished just like any other player would, so I say treat him like he treats his teammates, I mean if he's gonna get lazy on D, then put Bogans out there, Bogans will play D and get boards AND he will hustle every play. So when TMAC gets lazy Jonny Davis needs to get some balls and control this team.</div> I think this is a very valid point. Although McGrady is the star, at the end of the day, he is just another player, and if he is not playing up to scratch, why allow him to play? On the other hand however, there are many negatives that go along with this point. For example, many fear that McGrady might not be around for much longer, and surely this will only push him further away. Also I don't think that Davis is the kind of guy that would be able to pull this off, I don't think people see him as having the authority. As well as this, who knows when McGrady will come alight? He could be missing everything one minute, and then be on fire the next. At the end of the day, this is always going to be a high risk thing for Johnny to do, and I doubt it will ever happen, but in times like these, Davis may need to dig a little deeper than expected.
Lovely. Piss off your franchise player. The article makes a valid point, but think about it down the road. He'll turn into Shaq and bolt 'this dried up little puddle'

McGrady won't get bench until he's hurt. The only time he'll sit in a game is when he's hurt, tured, or in foul trouble. So there's no way he'll get benched otherwise IMO.
TMac is matured and becoming better, he just works so hard and wants to win so badly he overexerts himself and doesn't play his best. He has to carry a team after all. But yeah a rest would be the most practical and feasible thing to do. Some bench time so he can restrategise. As for staying in TO, that would've been nice, he may've still been the star he is today. However, what would've happened to the Magic, they need him in order to come close shy of other teams.
What is your problem...What lesson is their to teach him, if you bench him i guarentee he Demands a trade, and Ice is a mod because she got this forum active and she does a good job, if you got a problem with her, dont talk it out over the boards
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Q Rich3:</div><div class="quote_post">if you bench him i guarentee he Demands a trade</div> This is true, and yet it's a shame. Coaches shouldn't have to fear their own players. I'm not really following the Magic's problems so I really have no opinion on this specific matter. I just hope it isn't true that T-mac is getting lazy etc...
He's not getting benched, this is a stupid thread. Close it Ice. <font color="Blue">No he's not, but the article makes some valid points. -Ice</font>

My theory about Orlando's disappointing season relates to McGrady's loss of faith in the franchise. They had the Pistons down 3-1 in the Eastern quarterfinals and Detroit rallied back to win it all. After pining so long for a chance to break out of the first round, Orlando was again sent home early. I think McGrady feels that there's no point in working so damn hard, if it'll all go to waste in May.
I kind of agree. It does go back to the playoff series last year. Counting preseason, the Magic are 9-38, since we had the 3-1 series lead. So you point is valid. Tmac really doesn't seem to be playing like he did in his MVP form last year, but I think some of the reason for that is that Tmac has more help, so he doesn't have to carry as heavy of a load, which means he can rest every once and awhile and doesn't have to make the play every possession both sides of the floor. I'm not trying to blame it on his inconsistent teammates, but they are a big part in us losing. Tmac has really dissappointed me this year. I expected him to get a lower scoring average, but I also expected him to take over and win some games this year when his teammates weren't hot. (like almost every game)
lol bench him? plz..it wont happen even if he deserved it whenever he deserved it dont think it was last game or the41pts 8/11 3ptFG shooting game..
