I like Jalen Rose's stance. He doesn't let the ball drop, just twirl it thrice in his hands.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">All-time, I think Steve Kerr had the best stance. Great follow-through, feet spread shoulder-length apart, nice extension. The model for free-throw shooting.</div>

This is the best possible stance for free-throws - fundamentally sound. That's my stance, feet and shoulders equal distance apart, knees slightly bent, two or three dribbles for rhythm, elbow straight, follow-through. Works about 90% of the time.

My favorite is defintally Rip Hamilton's. I do it everytime I get to the line. It helps me relax and concentrate.

Man...when I use to see Anthony Mason shoot free throws, I would want to break down and cry...

Mason's stance wasn't the problem - it's his horrible delivery that makes people cry! It does tend to fool the opponent once in awhile though. Anthony wins the award for most lane-violation evoking free throws, Shaq is a close 2nd.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_Fever_834:</div><div class="quote_post">My best stance would have to be Karl Malone's. Always curious to know what he's saying at the FT line.....And also Dirk Nowitzki.</div>

I loved the way Bulls fan always count when he's at the FT line...he takes a long time to shoot...it's kinda annoying...but i do agree that i'm interested to what he's saying...

Yea that's weird, for most people shooting far from the charity stripe useally misses. But, luckly he makes them.

Karl Malone takes like 12 seconds at least, and the limit is 10. I hate him, he's always pickin on the Little Guys. Bill Lambier needs to get back out there and show him a lesson.

Nash is pretty automatic, but as far as stances go, NVE's 2 feet behind the line shot is the best.

I agree with Anthony Mason having the worst free throw stance. He barely ever makes it.

I like most people's, but Steve Kerr's was about perfect. I hate Shammond Williams and Marion's. Although they have gret percentages.

I like the way Steve Nash simulates a shot before he receives the ball from the ref. He reminds me of Kerr at the line (fundamentally sound).

Worst: Jermaine O'Neal, Olden Polynice and Bo Outlaw

From the past: Jeff Hornacek's stance always cracked me up :P

Has anyone seen Jerome James shoot a free throw? He doesnt even try to focus on his shot he just dribbles once and throws up a shot. But you guys only seem to know bigger name players who get national tv time.

    G.Rice shot is smooth.

Bo Outlaw, can't remember his stance but has the ugliest freethrow shot in the history of the earth.

Kobe's stance is my favorite. Dribble twice, take a deep breath and shoot. As for the worst, I'd have to agree with it being Mason. His free-throws would always make me laugh. As for the fastest free-throw relase after recieving the ball from the ref, I'd have to give that to Kareem Rush. He shoots them so fast that it almost seems like hes throwing it up carelessly.

I never really paid much attention to free throw stances but Shaq just cracks me up for real... Like hes holding the ball with 1 hand and literally trying to put it in the goal. He leans forward like he's reaching to the goal. Just so ugly.
