Ok youve seen how we have been playing, Consistent Team ball, Offense Which is beginning to mould into a good and explosive offense, And lockdown defense which can hold opponents to 83.3 ppg, While they put in 90.0 a game now that is a differecne of 7.7 correct me if im wrong, Also we have a deep bench with guys like Hart,Mercer, Hedo etc, Who can step in a play both ends, Do you think if we continue to play like this we are going to the finals...?, I think so, we are just going to have to keep timbder-Crew of our backs and kings dont look to bad either, But once everyone is comfortbale with their roles, And we get experience in different games(espcialy bench players) then we will be "the" team to beat!, What are your opinions..?
i think so. the only team to take us out is te lakers. injurys haunt them and if its the same way in the playoffs, the spurs will make the finals.
We signed Ward today. That's a good sign for the franchise, though not so good for Hart and Mercer. And yes, the main competition are the TWolves, the Kings, and the Lakers, in that order. If someone else beats the Kings or Wolves, we have a great shot at the Finals again, but I don't think in the playoffs that we could beat them. It's harder to play defense when they mostly run down the court, pass twice and shoot quickly. Oh, and are defense is turning into a great offense. Not the other way around.

So you just feel your team will just cruise to the Finals? LOL, there are many more teams on paper that are more powerful than the Spurs. Let me give you some examples: Lakers, Kings, Timberwolves, Mavericks. You get past these 4 teams, and then you have a good shot of repeating. To me, the biggest obstacle in these 4 teams is the Lakers, who have already beaten you 3 times this year, including 2 at SBC Center.

He is asking a question will Spurs make the finals again.Don't take it the wrong way. The only real threat in my opinion are the Lakers come playoff time.Wolves could be very dangerous but I really need to see more of them (heathly of course) The area that puts Spurs so high above nearly all those teams is defense. The D is on another level right now.You only need to look at who has won the title the last 5 years. It all starts on the defensive end while having a good balance on offense.. As for head to head match-ups,Lakers were managed to face a Spurs team out of sorts while playing injuried most of the first month. So I wouldn't take notice of that at this stage. Lakers defense really needs to improve and I do mean BIG TIME...otherwise they will be out in round one. However if they pick it up the way we all know they can then a western conference finals appearance is most likely. Although I don't really like to think about the NBA finals at this stage of the season.makes me rather depressed thinking about something so far ahead of time.As we also know...A LOT can change from now come playoff time who knows what may happen. BTW you mention teams on "paper" better than the Spurs. If the NBA was played on paper the Blazers would likely of been going for the 4-peat last season...and teams like the Lakers would of never been NBA champions during that time.
mavs are not a threat, kings.. maybe. lakers and wolves are. lakers obviously because of their players. wolves are playing really good right now cassels, kg, and spreewell has been playing really well w/ each other... anyways the spurs are looking good right now, just beat the pacers and saw what hedo can do...
I think the Spurs have a great shot at making the Finals, but I think the Lakers will end up making it...I dont see the Mavs as a threat, and I think Minnesota will falter someway, somehow...
They may have a chance at the finals, but they may going to have to watch out for the Kings and Lakers.
wolves arent going to fall apart, they are just going to get better as their teammates get healthy *evil laugh here* before u talk about championships u should wait to see how u guys do against the wolves this week. and the kings will definately be gunning for a championship, and theyll get better when C Webb comes back, and if the lakers get fully healthy again they will be scary
Any team in this thread other than Dallas can talk about winning the championship this year... But I definitely agree, the Wolves won't be falling apart.
If the Spurs can continue to play like this, they will should be champs. Even a full strength Laker team will find the Spurs hard to handle. Everything is there for a back to back championship, but they've got the rest of the season to go. But the signs are there, the bench is producing, Tim Duncan is starting to put up MVP like numbers (but KG still leads that race), they are playing good team ball and all the starters are producing. The only thing that can slow them down is injuries, because the Spurs are play to well together to have a mid/late season collapse.
I doubt it. The Mavs and the Lakers reloaded, the Kings' are playing great ball and have an all around offense, the T'Wolves will be a threat....I won't say the Spurs won't repeat, but I will say that it won't be an easy path to the Finals.
No way they'Re getting there. Sorry, they are way too inconsistent and if then they'd have a very very tough journey to there. They were beaten by Pistons and Pacers, two top teams of the east. I definitely think they wont get the trophy, and I seriously doubt them getting to the finals.

I?m sure the Spurs would get better in march-april, last 2 years happened the same. I?m not afraid of Lakers, TWolves and Kings, they can bit us, but we can beat them too.
Spurs last year had the best record in the league after the all star break till the post season. Same happen this year? They can only hope.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">Spurs last year had the best record in the league after the all star break till the post season. Same happen this year? Teams like the "full" Lakers and Timberwolves will definitely give them a run for their money. Not forgetting the Kings of course, as for who will come on top, too many good teams for me to say. It'd be bias.
I don't think the Spurs will beat the Lakers again. The Lakers were humiliated by San Antonio last year and if the teams were to meet again in this year's playoffs, they'd play for blood. The Spurs won't survive that. Even if they manage to avoid the Lakers, they'll still have Dallas, Minnesota and Sacramento to worry about. The Spurs might get there again but unless something big happens, no, they won't get to the Finals.
