Bulls operations chief John Paxson has been gauging trade interest in Jamal Crawford, according to a league source, but no deal appears imminent.

If it seems that paragraph has been recycled from previous seasons, there are reasons to pay closer attention this year.

The main reason is Paxson. He's facing his first trade deadline Feb. 19 after supplanting Jerry Krause at the end of last season, and he already has pulled the trigger on several transactions. He has traded Jalen Rose, Donyell Marshall, Lonny Baxter and Roger Mason Jr. He didn't re-sign free agents Fred Hoiberg or Trenton Hassell. He bought out Dalibor Bagaric's contract and is working on a settlement with Jay Williams.

I think trading him would be a huge mistake. But, I don't think it will happen anyway.

Honestly, if he trades Jamal Crawford for someone like Al Harrington... I think that would just be one of the dumbest moves. We have JYD, Davis, Curry, Chandler, and Fizer. Why would be need another decent forward?

With some of the stuff Paxson is talkin about doin' I wonder if he isn't the second comin' of Layden.

Trading Crawford would be awful. He's pretty much the life of the Bulls at the moment.

^ I agree. He is basicly the only person on the Bulls who can create their own shot. I can't immagine this offense any worse. Getting rid of Crawford would certainly accomplish that.

crawford is one of the only guys with the ability to put up huge numbers in Chicago, to trade away his talent would not be smart. Maybe Chicago could look at getting rid of one of their big men so they can find a solid small foward. They have a lot of big men on that team, and even more when Chandler comes back.

JC is the savior of the Bulls, it would be a stupid move by paxson. But no team is really going to take crawford because he's going to be a free agent at the end of this season, and i think they would rather sign him, then trade 4 him...

    Such as...?

The Crawford thing is nothing more than guaging interest. Crawford will only be traded if ERob is in the package, as reported by several sources.

Doesn't make alot of sense to me,but then again I'm not a hardcore Bulls fan. Just the things I hear and the things he does doesn't seem to me like they are moving in the right direction. But thats just my opinion.

Such as? Be specific. I have no clue as to what you are attempting to say.

    What exactly doesn't make sense?

    What?

I would trade him in a heartbeat if the right offer took place.

Don't let your Jamal bias blind you from the fact that he is still playing inconsistant, and that Hinrich overall has been more consistant this season(but less spectacular).

And I mean that performace wise, as in grasping the offense and executing it....not stats.

I wouldn't trade Jamal unless we were getting a good player in return.

"trading Jamal would be one of the dumbest moves", well you don't know who they would plan on getting. If they are getting someone good,I am all for it. And, I don't think Paxson is that dumb to trade him for nothing.

Jamal Crawford traded? Won't happen in a million years. Depends on who they get. They obviously don't need a forward/center, and you've got some decent scoring.

I still wouldn't trade him. Yeah, he is inconsistent but he has room to grow. He has shown he can do it, he just needs to keep workin at it.
