is this fair that he wont be allowed to play? i still think he can go in the first round of the draft and maurice clarrett, does any1 think he can get drafted?
Mike Williams got screwed plain and simple. he should go out there and find Maurice Clarett and bash his brains in.
i think that he should be allowed in the league this year or atleast be allowed to play in college. he tried to get eligible and didnt but that mustve lost him eligibility for college. i think one of the leagues should let him play
if i was him id play in canada, although i dont know when their season starts or finishes, its better than doing nothing. and hell get paid to,
He knew the risks when he did what he did....there is an affidavit on file with the league that he signed stating he knew that the league was appealing the Clarett decision and that if the league won, he would be turned away....2ndly, he burned his bridges to go back to college with his actions....declaring for the draft is not what cost him his eligibility, the NCAA would have reinstated him if that was all he did, but he also hired an agent, accept payment from the agent, and dropped out of school....so hes not even acidemically eligible....he did this to himself....this is about taking personal responsibility for ones actions....
Actually, in addition to what Beef said, Williams did attend summer school per the instruction of the NCAA, and apparently kept detailed records of where the money came from and where it went (also at the direction of the NCAA). By all accounts (at least out here) he followed the instruction of the NCAA to the letter to be considered for reinstatement. I agree that what has happend to him was brought upon him by his own actions, but I think that the timing of the NCAA decision is chicken sh*t. The season starts tomorrow for USC. Oh well. What would you expect from a gaggle of attorneys? Go Bruins!
i know the details, but still i think thats a stupid rule about agents and NCAA eligibiilty. he returned everything, and is screwed by the NCAA. the only thing i like about this is that the NCAA will stick to the rules despite the player, unlike every other league
