<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUBURN HILLS ? Larry Brown?s coaching philosophy is built on four basic precepts ? defend, rebound, take care of the basketball and share it. The Pistons? current seven-game winning streak has provided enough statistical proof that not only have the players accepted and learned those precepts, they also work. ?We?re getting better,? Brown said. ?Guys are falling into their roles and there have been some areas that we?ve really improved in. We?ve rebounded better. We?ve defended better. And offensively, we?ve gotten a better feel for what we are trying to do.? Just compare the numbers. During this winning streak, the Pistons have outscored their opponents on average, 89.7-80.2. They have limited them to 39.8 percent shooting. They are plus-46 in rebounds and averaging 22 assists to 13 turnovers. During the nine-game lull that preceded the streak, in which they were 2-7, they were outscored 82.7-79.8. Teams shot 42.3 percent against them. They were a minus-42 in rebounds and averaged 18 assists and 15.7 turnovers. Defend, rebound, take care of the basketball and share it. ?We?re getting it, man, we really are,? said Chauncey Billups, whose unselfishness and efficiency at point guard have helped turn the fortunes around. ?We?re getting better every day and every game. Offensively, we are executing better and defensively, we?ve been phenomenal.? </div> By Chris McCosky / The Detroit News Nothing that Piston fans can't notice from watching the games. We're playing better and beginning to understand what Brown wants the players to do on the court. They have been showing Brown what he wants to see during game time for the past seven games. The difference from a numbers standpoint is huge, especially for assists/turnovers. Our assist to turnover ratio improved to 1.7 from 1.15. Also, our rebounding numbers are a lot better. Congradulations to the Pistons who are starting to understand the system!
We all knew it would take time for the Pistons to learn Brown's style of play and the overall system. Some were getting frustrated with what was happening.Getting back to team basketball the way Pistons used to play last season and the year before is what has actually changed the teams fortunes.
Yep, Finally people can see the mastermind behind Larry Brown. When Pistons went on there dreaful slump, my friends were ready to try and go kill him. I didn't mind it, cause I knew they were just getting used to LB's system of ball. Now look at them, they're defense is AMAZING, they've won 7 in a row, they're scoring is up, ball movement is WAY better, so many more assists a game, and they're much more of a exciting team to watch. I must admit that I was speachless when Rick Carlise was fierd, no knowing why in the hell that would happen, but now I see why. Larry Brown has made the Pistons a much better ball club.
How can people say firing Carlisle was a bad move when they got Larry Brown to replace him? The Pistons did well to pick him up, and he has really changed the way the team plays for the better. My favorite thing about him is how he emphasizes sharing the ball, getting assists, and rewarding defense. That is an excellent system, and the players are doing very well to listen to Brown and learn his style.
