I paid $180 for NBA League Pass on DirecTV so I would be able to follow my favorite team, the Miami Heat, when they're on the road. Well for the past few weeks, every single Miami Heat road game has been blacked out where I live. I am really PO'ed, how the hell does the NBA expect their loyal fans to follow their when they're on the road? You'd expect you would be able to watch any game you wanted after spending $180 on NBA League Pass. A small 15 second highlight reel on SportsCenter simply doesn't cut it.

There are more than 10+ games being broadcasted tonight on NBA League Pass, and I can watch every single one of them EXCEPT for the Miami Heat game! What is this crap?!?! I called up DirecTV and they said the game is probably being shown on a national network like ESPN, I actually laughed... a Miami Heat game being shown on ESPN? Yeah right!

How could it possibly hurt them to show the game? I get to see the first 5 minutes of the pre game show then it just cuts off. Would it really hurt them if they didn't black it out? I'd still be seeing the same commercials and everything, so what's the big deal? This is absurd.

Are there any other fans on here that are loyal to their team and are unable to watch them when they're on the road due to greedy blackout restrictions?

Yeah, Blackout is stupid. It seems that you live real close to the Heat, instead of payin 180 dollars for leauge pass then just go buy a bunch of those 10 dollar seats. Miami Games are quite emtpy, and if your slick wit it, you could easily move up close. I would do that. I'm glad I live 120 miles away from the Detroit Pistons, cause I would be really pissed if the game was blacked out.

I have Miami Heat season tickets which are in the 6th row, I go to every single Heat home game. The reason that I got NBA League Pass on my DirecTV was so I could watch the Heat and follow them when they were on the road playing in other cities.

Man, that sucks. That doesn't happen for Laker games here. They show all the games, road and home unless it's on TNT...

The Clipper games on the other hand, they don't show a lot of games but I don't think anyone notices.

btw, do you have DirecTV ??

Yeah I thought that they only blacked out home games when they weren't sold out or something like that... it's crazy that they would black out road games. You're right- they are really greedy.

I agree... its stupid... If I were to pay however much money on League Pass... I would expect to see every Minnesota Timberwolves game.

Me too, but I'd just stick with Espn or Star Sports and watch the games live or replays and record them.

That sucks. After spending $180 you should be able to see everything you want to see! I'm just glad that every single Pistons game is shown.

The NBA League Pass needs to change, I would go crazy if I were you, Accord. Paying a huge amount of money for something pointless.

Yeah, that really sucks man. That is a lot of money being put in to see your team play on the road, and they don't show it. I have NBA League Pass myself and they show all the Laker games, don't some road games come on your local channel though?

That sucks. I would call up and ask for you money back or something.

I am lucky enough to see all the Bulls games.

Accord, I agree with you. I also have season tickets (not as good as yours lol) and have the league pass, and it's freakin' incredible how many games they blackout. and when you call they have no real reason. one time they even told me that it was the fan's fault for the lack of demand, another time they said that if they didn't broadcast other teams ppl from miami call and complain, i.e. we have a lot of other teams fans living in miami. it's ridiculous. they promise you one thing when you sign up, then they don't deliver.

th one hope is that if we start winning, probably demand will go up.

Well this is just fantastic, the Heat @ Kings game is blacked out! What a surprise [IMG]. This is really pissing me off.

Who can I contact about this? Nobody at DirecTV knows anything. I don't want to cancel my League Pass, I just want answers.

I dunno, try Bill Walton, or one of the players in the commericals [IMG] .

They should really be ashamed of themselves, especially after they brag about how you can get "any game from anywhere". False advertising is illegal.

I don't want to promote any illegal activity but.....try to find a way to get League pass for free...then you won't feel ripped off.

Would it really hurt them THAT much to just let me watch my home team when they're on the road? I paid $180 to be able to watch my home team on the road, that's basically the same price as two lower bowl tickets to a Heat home game. This is just absurd and it makes absolutely zero sense.

Did you call them up and ask them about it? Express your feelings to what you think should happen. Hopefully they can at least give you an answer as to why it is blocked.

I've called DirecTV numerous times, I even spoke to a supervisor the last time I called... they don't know anything at all. They'll just make up something lame like "well the game is probably being shown on another channel like ESPN".

I just sent the NBA an e-mail expressing my feelings, here it is...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Hello, I am a Miami Heat season ticket holder and have been a Miami Heat fan for as long as I can remember. I also have DirecTV at my home and I have the NBA League Pass service, the sole reason that I purchased DirecTV and NBA League Pass was so I could watch Miami Heat games when they were on the road. Well every single Miami Heat away game this season that was not broadcasted on the Sunshine Network has been blacked out making it impossible for me to follow my favorite team when on the road. I am paying more than ************* for Miami Heat season tickets and an additional $180 for NBA League Pass so I can follow them when they're on the road, but I can't because every single away game is blacked out! I find this to be absolutely absurd, especially considering the blackout restrictions are not even based on game attendance, but the greed of the television networks. Why does the NBA allow the greed of small time regional television networks to get in the way of their fans loyalty to their favorite team? I have contacted DirecTV numerous times and nobody there knows anything, I would have prefered to call the NBA regarding this matter but I was unable to locate a phone number, just this e-mail form. I know that it says not all of these "comments" will be responded to, however I find this to be a very serious matter and a complete waste of my money and time, so I hope the NBA makes an exception in this case and actually replies to this.

    Thank you</div>

Actually, the Clippers didn't have a cable contract until late last season, now they show about 80% of all the games on either Fox or local channel 5. I had directv last year with the league pass, and I could watch every Clipper game home or road. I don't know why they won't show the Heat road games, I assume they don't have a TV deal with a local cable affiliate? That's still strange though, because last year I only had a couple of blackouts the entire season, and none were Clipper games. Those were the Laker games that were blacked-out locally when televised on espn or tnt, other than that I pretty much got everything. I would definitely voice my displeasure with the league, directv doesn't care because they already got their un-refundable $180.
