http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/attendance?s...04&seasonType=2 The top 8 teams on this list are all very understandable, but I was surprised by Milwaukee and Utah so high. But the biggest surprise was Portland at number 25, Celtics at 22, and Rockets at 23, these are three large markets who usually draw a large crowd. Bottom Three 27. New Jersey- though they've been good, they have never drawn a good attendence 28. Atlanta Hawks- well, they were higher than I expected 29. Memphis Grizzlies- very surprising considering how improved they are Top 5 1. Dallas 2. Sacramento 3.Los Angeles Lakers 4. San Antonio 5. New York Also the top two road teams are LA and Clevland (NJ's first sellout of the season was when Clevland played there last week).
New York attendance will probably rise some more if they keep winning with marbury, houston, and the gang.
Dallas and New York? I never knew they were so popular, I myself would've thought that the Magic or Sonics would be in place of them. Even though they're not playing so well this year.
I think organizing them by PCT is unfair... if I make an arena that holds 10 people and I sell 11 tickets, I have a 110%, and I'd be higher than a team that sold 20,000 tickets for an arena that can hold 20,001. So sorting them by AVG shows us a better picture... TOP 5 ---------- 1. Detriot 2. Dallas 3. Chicago 4. Philly 5. LA Lakers BOTTOM 5 ---------- 25. Seattle 26. Memphis 27. Orlando 28. New Jersey 29. Atlanta ...now Sacramento who was #2 is now 11th, their arena only holds 17,317 it seems, no wonder they can sell out every game. A team like Chicago averages 19,372 fans per game, yet that's only 84.7% of the seats.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BenWallace3:</div><div class="quote_post">Those stats are off, Detroit by far averages the most fans per game.</div> For just home games yes they are a top team.
The Houston Rockets are ranked 23rd. There is something seriously wrong with the fans down in Houston. They've got an one-of-a-kind centre, an exciting backcourt, and mostly importantly, they win. The Rockets' fans need to wake up. The Texans won't be great for the next 5 years, so why waste money to watch a losing game when a game a the brand new Toyota centre is a 10minute drive away? Take this as a plea to the Rockets' organization: If the people of Houston choose not to accept your franchise, consider a move to another city where you will get the love and respect you need. Please, move.
Weird to say Memphis at the bottom even with their improvement this year. Someone needs to wake them up.
If the fans in a city aren't appreciating the team, I think the team should move and leave the ungrateful fans crying in the wake of their departure. Most fans now take their teams for granted and don't care about how the team is going to make money. They critize the team when it doesn't re-sign a top-notch free agent when it is actually them who do not provide the money to re-sign them. They need a lesson.
I'm surprised that even though the nets are an elite team in the east, they are that low on the attendance list
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dj_premium_plus:</div><div class="quote_post">where is toronto ranked?</div> Might wanna click the link. Just a thought. Glad to see Minnesota is in the upper half of the L.
No surprises with the Nets. It really saddens me that they're not filling up the stadium. They're one of the elite and one of the most fun team to watch.
Guys, when you click on the link above make sure you sort the list by the AVERAGE attendence, forget about what it says for the PERCENTAGE.
yeah I really thought Magic would be higher at home..but what surprised me the most is road games..i thought they would be a top 5 team
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Magic Johnson:</div><div class="quote_post">Dallas and New York? I never knew they were so popular, I myself would've thought that the Magic or Sonics would be in place of them. Even though they're not playing so well this year.</div> Dude, there's no reason why the Madison Square Garden should have a bad attendance. After all, it is the most famous arena.

Pretty much everyone in the USA, basketball fan or not, knows that MSG is the most famous arena in the world.
