I know my posts are long but a few of the posts after my 2 posts bring up things I've covered. Anyway, like I've been saying the West bias are all for this right now, but when the East takes over, they aren't going to be too happy with the rule when their team gets screwed out of the playoffs by the 10th seed in the East. Why should a team who was 10th in their conference even make it? 10th? That's just horrible... and they are a playoff team? The rule is perfectly fine, and I did find one more arguement to back it up... THE DRAFT!! Let's say the West sends 11 teams and the East sends 5, now suddenly 10 Eastern teams get lottery picks and only 4 West teams do... the rookies are going to flood into the weaker conference making them dominating for the next 10 years... why should the NBA have weaker conferences? By making it equal, it makes the conferences equal... right now the problem is the West teams made real good moves in the 90s concerning their salary cap, which allowed them to be flexable, whereas the East's richest team (New York) didn't do a good job with their salary cap, handcuffing them for quite a few years!! Things will change when Chicago starts to spend a little more money, figure out young teams don't win, and make smart trades. Also when New York gets out of salary cap problems. Indiana and Detroit are already showing promise... I think if Shaq retires soon, things will be equal if not in favor of the East. The luxury lax has really changed how the NBA works, so after they obolish it, or teams learn to work around it, I think things will balance out. 8 teams per conference is the only way to go, otherwise we wouldn't have conferences... I covered that point above, so I won't rehash what I said!! P.S.>> If you want more competitive ball, then you should be in favor of cutting the playoffs to 6 teams (2 of them having byes rounds) or 4 (like MLB) teams... not by allowing the top 16 teams reguardless of conferences!! More than HALF the NBA teams make the playoffs, it's stupid... they need to cut it down, teams half-a$$ it all season and can make the playoffs.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting scorbutic:</div><div class="quote_post">8 teams per conference is the only way to go, otherwise we wouldn't have conferences... I covered that point above, so I won't rehash what I said!!</div> See I have a serious problem with the fact that a team like the Nets can make it to the finals. Last years Lakers, Spurs (obviously), Mavs, Kings, and some other teams would have all beaten the Nets. But no, it is required that it be East vs. West. Also, the eastern teams have an easier playoff schedule. That just goes to show how much better the west finals team is than the easter one. The Spurs had to beat the Lakers, and Mavs. The Nets had to beat who? The Bucks? lol.
llol i didnt even read but magic 12 wins? come on now..lol and it was boston with pierce and walker portland..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trail_Blazer76:</div><div class="quote_post">I think that eventually they will move to taking the top 16 teams. Eliminates garbage and would increase ratings.</div> garbage = east
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trail_Blazer76:</div><div class="quote_post"> If they weren't looking into my idea, why not just leave the series at 5 games so that stronger teams eliminate the weaker teams more quickly?</div> Because, more games=more money The more games that are played means more revenue from television ratings. simple as that.
