Alright guys...this is what i personally think of my favourite player. Before when Carter was healthy and un-injured, he drove to the hole, was consistent on his shot, and showed more of a passion for the game then he has now. I think the reason that he has never gone back to his old self is not due to the injury, his team or the coach. The main reason why he isn't doing the amazing, yet effective things he used to do is because he is most probably scared...scared of another injury that could cost him another year off the team and possibly end his career. Before, he was never afraid to jump through traffic and get into people's faces but he is getting more and more reluctant to drive by his opponents. His inconsistency of getting to the line is becoming more and more evident as the games go by. Also, his field goal percentage is the worst this year of his career and his turnovers per game are the most this year of his career. I love VC and i hope that if can't be the high-flying above the rim player he used to be, that he becomes more of a complete player that will help his team go far like Jordan did.
i think the main thing for VC is trying to stay healthy for a full season now, i think he will be a different player come playoff time, at least i hope. MAY BE it's a mental thing for him, it's like wow...i can actually stay healthy for one long yr. but aside from driving hard to the hole, he should put more consistent effort on the D. why can't he get over 5 boards a game, the team needs rebounds badly.
oh yeah...thanks for pointing that out too jack. Carter also doesn't seem to be hustling for rebounds, he lets most of them come to him. A player of his calibre should definitely not be getting under 5 rebounds a game.
i think its the right thing for him to do - he cant risk another injury. So he's doing fine and you can still enjoy him playin like before - even though its not as much risky
For the most part I agree that VC lacks the intensity he used to show for a full game. We do see glimpses of it in the 4th quarter of games, but that's it. I don't think it's the injury. That's just an easy excuse. Yesterday's game against the Blazers was the best one I've seen from the Raps in several weeks. Yes it is true that the Blazers are not that good, but those are the games that the Raps seem to be having a hard time with lately. It was excellent defense, and well executed offense. Maybe not that flashy, but effective. Big time props for Archibald. He is a missing piece for the Raps. I think this is a great addition to the raps. No he probaly won't average 5ppg, but he understands team defense and made some nice 2nd and 3rd rotations on the help side against the Blazers. This guy is exactly what KO needed in his defensive scheme.
i think that this year hes just testing out his knees but come playoff time hell be the Vince we know and next year hell be top 5 again
I really think vince needs an entire season without injury before he feels comfortable enough to do most of the things he used to. Honestly, he recieved some of the worse experiences an injured player in his position can recieve. He was accused of being soft, weak, someone who didn't have dedication and he was bashed endlessly for even being voted to be in the allstar game all because he was injured, he also had to watch his team go on a big loosing streak and miss the playoffs. Most players would'nt get this kind of treatment but due to his popularity your going to have bad press regardless of whether it was in your control or not and nobody wants to go through that again. I still think thats in the back of his mind everytime he drives to the basket, and you can see it on his face everytime he hits his leg on another player by accident or hits the ground hard. He almost looks scared or angry but only to find it it was a simple bruise.
