I think everyone meant that the Lakers were going to win by 20 tonight... [IMG]

Of course, that's what I really meant. Why would I doubt my Lakers at home and say the Nuggets were going to blow them out? [IMG]

Really? That's great news, if that's true, we could actually have a chance against Sac-Town, I'll try to find something on it.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Slava Medvedenko and the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers used a balanced attack to get coach Phil Jackson his 800th career win.

Medvedenko scored 22 points and Gary Payton added 21, leading the Lakers to their third straight victory, a 97-71 romp over the Denver Nuggets.

Ten of the 11 Lakers who saw action scored as Jackson became the fastest coach to reach 800 wins. He reached the milestone in his 1,101st game, 38 quicker than former Los Angeles coach Pat Riley.

The Lakers were playing their first game without superstar Kobe Bryant, who suffered a sprained right shoulder in Monday's triumph over Cleveland and will miss at least five games.

It is the latest in a long line of injuries for the Lakers, who already were without forward Karl Malone and superstar center Shaquille O'Neal.

Malone is on the injured list for the first time in his career with a sprained knee. O'Neal was medically cleared to play but did not suit up and missed his sixth straight game due to a calf injury.

Wow, I still can't believe the Lakers won! Slava played awesome, the young ones played good, and Payton was also spectacular. Keep it up Lakers!

Slava: 20 points and 9 rebounds per game in his last 3 games!!!

Great effort from the Laker kids, great team ball, playing hard and rebounding the ball got them this win.Clearly the Nuggets played very bad but credit needs to be given to the Lakers.Without 3 starters and still blowout the 5th seed Nuggets

Although,Shaq will need to be back on friday otherwise it could get ugly.

The Nuggets did struggle, but a big part of that was due to the Lakers defense. They hustled, scrapped, and just plain outworked Denver in every aspect of the game. Winning in Sacramento without Shaq is no doubt a daunting task, but as long as they play with the type of effort they put forth in this game, it should be fun to watch.

Man, what a game last night. And the looks on Kobe's face just told the whole story. The Laker replacements just completely took out the Denver Nuggets. I'm talking about guys like Payton who came out of his offensive slump by scoring 21 pts, Slava Medvedenko who stepped up his game to a new level by scoring 22 on 9/11 shooting, Rush, Sampson, Fisher, Cook, it was just an excellent team effort. And one more thing I can't forget....The Laker defense was just outstanding. Carmelo was just contained last night. And the rest of the Nuggets weapons didn't even stand a chance. Now these guys have a chance to beat Sacramento Friday night. 3 game winning streak and a load of confidence.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple N Gold:</div><div class="quote_post">Haha, I'm loving this! Nice call shapecity!!! Us Laker fans tried to tell you people to give Slava some respect, he's playing awesome basketball. This is probably Payton's best game this year. He is keeping this Laker team under control, and showing the young players how to play, with veteran leadership. I think this will be the Lakers 2nd biggest blow out of the year, this is coming vs a playoff type team with 3 future HOF's out, we have the depth. I'm glad the Lake Show are proving everyone wrong tonight, Horace Grant even has 11 rebounds. Lakers playing great ball right now.</div>

    Thank you sir.

The Lakers played inspired ball and the fill-ins did a great job of playing with confidence and catching the Nuggets flat footed. This was a nice win for us, but the next few games are going to be tough, and it will be hard for the Laker fill ins to catch another team off guard. Shaq is expected to be back, but I hope he's not rushing his injury again. If he ends up back on the IL, I would like to see the Lakers play at least .500 basketball heading into the All Star Break.
