I have agreed with every move Isiah has made until now. New York fans want the playoffs now. I dont think Mike Frattelo can come in and change things immediately. I think he should have finished the season with Don Chaney as the coach. Fratello if I could remember his days as a Cavs coach likes to play a slow defesive grind it out style of play. Well that doesnt fit the Knicks current personal. The knicks best players(Marbury, Van Horn, & Houston) are all scorers, who need to play a more uptempo style of play. That grind it out half court stuff aint going to work with this team. They cant stop people, so they are going to have to find away to score points. I remember during the offseason, Don Chaney said that he wanted to play a more uptempo style once he got a point guard. Well they just got steph & they started to slow a more uptempo style vs the Bucks & Mavs. Chaney should have had an opportunity to coach a team led by the point guard who plays the style of play he wanted to play. If Isiah wasnt going to give him that type of opportunity then he should have fired chaney soon as he took over as gm. He should have brought in fratello before he made the moves he made. Fratello could have had some imput on how he wanted the roster to look. Now fratello has a roster of players that really dont fit his game plan. A prefect example is Moochie Norris as the new backup point guard. He doesnt fit fratello style of play. He plays little defense. And he is best suited in a more uptempo offense. Thats one of the reasons he struggled under Van Gugy in Houston. Charlie Ward would be a better fit at the back up slot under fratello.because he plays that controlled style offense that fratello coaches. I guess the playoffs is out for this season Knicks fans. It way to hard for a team to adjust to a new coaching system in just half a season.

Doc Rivers crossed my mind too...plus with NY we know they have the players and experience to not be overwhelmed by whatever defensive schemes the opposing teams come up with. lol Doc wouldn't be facing the same hurdles with NY that he faced in Orlando..he's got experienced players to work with in the Big Apple opposed to what he had with the Magic.

Aww man, this means that The Czar will no longer be the Miami Heat analyst/commentator, heh [IMG].

I do believe that he will do a good job in New York though, well at least a better job than Don Chaney.

Yes, he did coach a grind-it-out style of play with the Cavs, but remember that he also coached a high energy, high scoring team Atlanta Hawks team in the '80s. He will coach to his teams abilities, I think he'll work out very well with the Knicks. He's also a guy that knows how to deal with the massive media attention that exists in New York. Give it a couple of months, I think Knick fans will be very happy with him.

Was going to say the same thing,JVG and Fratello were very good for TNT,worked real well as a team.At times they were very funny in what they said.Should be a very good match-up

As for the question if this will work or not,I reckon it will.Fratello is a pretty good coach that has had good success in the past.Lets face it Don Chaney was not a good coach in New York. You only have to look at his overall record to state that opinion. They need a new change of direction.Bringing in MF is a wise decision. He is the best available coach left to help guide the Knicks to the playoffs. His coaching style might not fit into the way Stephon Marbury likes to play but I'm sure It shouldn't be a huge problem.

Mike Fratello is an NBA coaching legend and will undoubetdly be in the hall of fame one day. He was named coach of the year in the 86-87 season and was the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks for 7 seasons, mind you those were all winning seasons and this was in an era where the Hawks were actually a good team. He was also the head coach of the Cavs for 6 years and he's one of the very few coaches in NBA history to ever win more than 500 games. He didn't get the 'knick' name "The Czar" for no reason ya know [IMG].

In that case, he may be better than Doc.

Come on knicks235, the more you spell his name wrong the more you will help others spell it wrong.

    It's Lenny Wilkens.

    Lets look professional here.

(that is just as sick as people saying "Mello" or Carmello" [IMG] )
