Both teams are great, and the addition of Duncan would just tip the table.</div> lol, whichever team had Duncan would win? a little too big of a Duncan fan aren't you? He's great but not to the point where he would be able to pull the World team over USA. He doesn't even have that kind of impact on the ALL-Star game, playing alongside the best in the west, I definately don't see him being able to pull a team through a victory over all the top USA players.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple N Gold:</div><div class="quote_post">You sure about that? Duncan can easily be replaced by a Elton Brand, Jermaine O'Neal, or Ben Wallace. C Shaq would get a rotation of Yao, Divac and Ilgauskas against him. That's enough. The battle on the PF the USA would win. But at SF/SG Europe is as good as the USA. We have the better (3p) shooters. Only Allen is a really good long distance shooter. Stojakovic is better. And we have Nowitzki to cause real big problems (a big men with a 3 point shot) At the point I think Nash and Parker can handle the USA. So the diference would not be huge. A lot of americans think that Europe/the world is coming closer but the UsA is at this moment still a lot better. Well, overconfidence is the term for that. Europe for example is really close to catching the USA. A lot closer than you all believe. If the USA players have the same attitude than a lot of Usa fans here I really want to see the olympics. Were the defeats at the WC an accident or is it something more? We shall see.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">I can't believe how biased you guys are with the US. I would still pick the US to win, but it would not be a landslide nor would I be shocked if we lost. Serious.</div> I completely agree with you on this one. The fact that the U.S.A. no longer bowls over the regular competetion means that if someone wants to combine the stars from other countries, such a game would be close and it would be decided by who plays more like a team, both offensively and defensively. But I can understand the bias. Americans want to hold on the dominance the U.S.A. once had, even as recent as ten years ago. The proof will be in the olympics when the U.S.A. will earn whatever it gets. They are not even a lock to win. By the way, you can't have an international all star team without Piculin, even though most of you only think about Europe.
Some people in this thread surprise me,the rest of the world are catching up on the US.You know when these euro countries come to play they will not only play hard they will play great team basketball, move the ball on the arc, look for the bets possible shot in the post,up court pressure all the way.Bare in mind that Argentina team who's best player is Emanuel Ginobili took the US to the limit in the olympic qualifer. No excuse for not having most of the best available players, the US team had Kidd,Iverson,Mcgrady,Duncan,O'Neal,Allen,Bibby,Carter yet gets taken real close by a team who's best player to the 2nd best on the current Sant Antonio Spurs team. You can't base everything around talent. It is how players work togeather as a team. That is what the rest of the world do better than the US.Which is why the gap is closing. If you put the best that the US has to offer against the best the rest of the world has to offer I'm pretty sure it will be a game worth watching and A very close one.
good points allnet but the fact is that Europe didnt have so many dominant players like now... or just think in China... they are 1200 millions... its a time question
Duncan can?t be replaced by Ben Wallace, Scola makes a lot of points in indianapolis to Ben Wallace with his footwork. And one thing, NBA teams don?t know how to attack a zone defense, the rest of the world yes.

I'm not trying to put too much emphasis on Duncan, but both teams are vartually equal without him in there. And he has a hell of an influence on the All Star game. He easily changes people's shots, and if not, he throws them back. But in any event, the Western ALl Stars are primarily Centers and Power Forwards, anyway.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobeonfire:</div><div class="quote_post">Ummm I don't think Duncan gets to choose; whoever said so, I think they're wrong. He plays for the United States- he was on the team that played in the Olympic qualifiers this past summer, and he's on the Olympic team. I remember that he didn't play against the Virgin Islands when the US team played them- he sat out because he said he'd feel bad beating them.</div> But thats the Olympics..we talkin' an all-star game.
He would have played for VI but when he first played in the olympics there wasn't a VI team and you can't switch teams after you play in one.
i was just going to say that, it's a fba rule. and i do give the edge to the international team if duncan plays. another addition to the international team: rick fox. i believe he's from canada?
