that the NFC is the weak sister to the AFC was never more clear than in the 3 starting QBs of the NFC east. Released from their former teams in favor of young, relatively inexperienced QBs, Warner, Brunell & Testeverde are your starting QBs on opening day in the NFC Least. Granted it will likely be the most competitive division in football, but not for it's stellar QB play.
I think the conferences are closer than u think, look how many teams can u say are out of the playoffs no matter what? NFC- Chicago Detroit Arizona San Fran...wont make the playoffs how many teams in the NFC are guaranteed a playoff birth? Philadelphia and Seatle how many teams are on the bubble? The whole NFC South, St. Louis, Dallas, NYG and Wash. lets do the same for the AFC OUT San Diego Cleveland Buffalo Oakland IN New England Kansas City Baltimore if anything, the AFC has more questions to who should be on the bubble rather than out(pittsburg, Houston, Miami and NYJ) can all be in the "Out" collum as well as bubble. I think both conferences are equal, both have horrible divisons(AFC North, NFC West) and both have potential power houses(NFC Sout, AFC South) and alot of divisons that have 2 good teams, then 2 bad. its all even if u break it down Bubble AFC South, NYJ, Miami, Cincy, Pittsburg
Well I disagree with u on all but SD as being definite outs in the AFC. But that's not a good measure of which conference is strongest anyway. I don't have the exact #s in front of me but I'm conident that the AFC dominated the NFC in interconference games last season. NFC North is another example of a weak division. Put Buf, Cle or Oak in there & see if they don't challenge for the top spot.
NFC Norht is a tough division, the vikes are on the rise, the bears are still young and re-building, the lions are defeniatlely going to the top team, just give them a year or 2. the leagues are balanced, there is no "better conference." Last year the NFC was 31-34vrs. AFC soo...that means... The AFC was 34-31vrs the NFC. there is no significant difference. ill continue to say its balanced, and my last 2 posts help support that. Bears, i dont think the Bears are playoffs yet. THey are playing with the packers(I think are done personally, but are still tough) and Vikings(who i like this year to go far). maybe they will be on the bubble again, but i think the 2 WCs come from the NFC South, or at least 1 does and the other from the East.
if you think any team has been eliminated from playoff contention a week before the preseason ends, you are dumber than i thought...if you think any team is guaranteed a playoof spot right now, you are dumber than the new level of dumb we just established with the 1st thing....maybe dumb is the wrong word, maybe ignorant....the Eagles are 1 injury away from going 6-10....If Mcnabb was to go down for the season, with the weakness of the run game, the weakening of the D at corner, it could all go down the toilet in a hurry....furthermore, I wouldnt be suprised to see a team like the Bears, that that defense, winning 13 games and going into the playoffs as the #1 seed....all they have to do to go to the Super Bowl is get to the NFC Championship Game, assuming the Eagles also go, since we know they cant take the next step....

There's no doubt the league as a whole is far more competitive than in previous decades where u had only a handful of teams in contention.

Dallas was the only suprise team other than carolina. KC, and Indy were expected to do as well as they did. They both had offenses poised to break out, and everyone knew they would do well. Cicny had a new coach, and a new begining, thats why the team changed its colors to show they were serious and going to be winners. they did that. Dallas was expected to do good, but just not that year, this year. on the flip side, what teams under achieved? the bucs, steelers, browns, 49ers and raiders were the only playoff team not to return. but 4 of those teams expectations were to high, the 49ers had no reason to be expected to do anything with a bad defense, and 2 explosive offenses in their division. the raiders were old. the browns wre a fluke the year before, they got in on a prayer, and had no reason being in the playoffs. they were in because of being in the worst divison steelers not making a push wasnt a suprise, especially with tommy maddox. so the bucs were the only team to do poorly based on expectations. im sick of this crap that any team can win anygiven sunday, that phrase is so overrused, the best team wins. period.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>Yet, NFC has won 2 of last 4 super bowls</div> I dont get that, NFC has won two of the last 4 superbowls?, So that just means that the AFC has won two of the last 4 superbowls also.
No no, that means the Patriots have won 2 out of the last 4 super bowls. Wait..... yep this sounds better, 2 out of the last 3 superbowls.

The Eagles lost 4 games last year in the regular season, to Tampa, Dallas, NE, and San Francisco....by your own argument, those teams are better than the Eagles.....but wait, they also beat Dallas, so by your argument the Eagles are better than the Cowboys....ut oh, we seem to have stumbled into some freak parallel universe where the best team doesnt always win and where the team that plays the best that day gets the "W"....wanna know why "any given sunday" rings true? cause there isnt that much difference between the best teams and the worst teams, it often comes down to a player or two that are better and the bounce of a ball that is shaped like big fat banana....football is a fickle mistress, sometimes she givith and sometimes she taketh away....

The Eagles lost 4 games last year in the regular season, to Tampa, Dallas, NE, and San Francisco....by your own argument, those teams are better than the Eagles.....but wait, they also beat Dallas, so by your argument the Eagles are better than the Cowboys</div> the best team does always win, NE and Tampa were better than the eagles at theat point last year, Dallas' was better also, they were something like 6-2 or had a record just like that, and the niners won on turnovers. ok, u got me, i forgot to mention turnovers in my saying, ill re-state it. The best team always wins period. if the lesser team wins the turnover battle thats the only exception. there are upsets, but upsets happen when the underdog comes out fired up and does a better job gameplanning, thats why they win. u cant tell me any team can go from worst to first witout making any huge moves. it just doesnt happen. the panthers did it because of a dominating D, that D dominated the year before, but they stil couldnt win, they got davis to put them over the hump. the cowboys were 5-11 3X before Tuna came and put them high the bears, chargers, cardinals, and other bad teams will continue to stay at the bottom untill they get a player/s and or coach that will get them going OR the talent they collect in the draft grows and produces. why havent the bengals won all theese yearS? same with the cards? they never made biig moves, so they dont go anywere. the cowboys sucked, then got Aikman and Smith and Jimmy J, and later dominated the 90s after they grew to their potential the bucs had a D in place from the Dungy era, but with Gruden comming he challenged them to be great, and they took his challenge and did that.(rember he challenged them to be a scoring defense, and there was another challeng but i forget) im intrested in what u have to say beef, this is a good topic
Consider this: Chicago is converting to a cover 2 system, a defense designed to compensate for below avg CBs(the eagles shouldder changing)....the way they do it, is by running 7 zones instead of matching up man to man....now, what kind of players do you need for the cover 2? 1st, you needs a stellar MLB, and one that can run, its important because hes the guy thats responsible for plays deep down the zone....can you name a player that fits that better than Urlacher? Next, you need speed on the weakside, early reports indicate Lance Briggs is a fantastic prospect at the Will, hes fast just like Urlacher....now you need an DE and DT that can work togehter to get pressure, so you team Tommy Harris with Ogunleye....now you need a stellar Safety to play in the deep zone, so you got Mike Brown....the point is, the Bears personel is perfect for the cover 2.....they might be as good as the Super Bowl Bucs defense was a few years back....if the defense improves that much, they will be a factor, no matter what happens with the offense....13-3 is a stretch, but im not gonna be shocked if they do that, GB is on the decline, Minnesota doesnt impress me, and Detroit is too young to make too much noise this year....I will go out on a limb right now and predict the Bears in the playoffs, perhaps even winning the division...
