Man,it gets on my nerves to see some of the stuff today. Players sit out with the slightest injury. The latest thing I saw was Shaq sittin out with a strained calf, how weak is that? If Shaq wasn't so lazy in the off-season then this garbage wouldn't constantly happen..same thing for Vince Carter. If these guys were true team players they would work their butts off in the off-season to make sure their bodies are in shape for the rigors of 82 games. It's pathetic. They need to compare their lives to that of people in the real world. I used to work for Coca Cola in the summers..it was hard physical work..what do you think they would do if I said I can't come in today I strained my calf so I'm just gonna stay home til i gets better? Don't get me wrong I got love for most cats in the L..but these guys that are so coddled and catered to make me sick..they need to take a lesson from Isiah in playing with pain...or better yet get John Havlicek to teach 'em a thing or two. I'm not saying they should play with injuries that are career threatening but come on..some of this garbage they 'sit out' for is ridiculous.
I agree. In the past, players played with sprained thumbs and weak knees and strained ankles/calves...today there are very few hard-nosed players...players such as Karl Malone and Allen Iverson, who sucked it up and played simply because they love the game...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Big Nasty:</div><div class="quote_post">same thing for Vince Carter. .</div> rolling your ankle has nothing to do with conditioning...sometimes when a player comes down on another players foot, all their weight rolls onto their ankle, and they can barely even walk on it. i think when a player needs crutches to walk, its safe to say they shouldnt be on the basketball court.
i agree somewhat, but there are also the players like AI and KG that always show up for their team, KG sprained his ankle yesterday against the hornets, but he played against the spurs tonight, AI is always playing with an injury, as much as i think AI is overrated, one thing about him is true, he is tough. and there are the players that get hammered all the time, each team has their own guy that goes and gets himself mugged. Joe Smith is great at taking charges at great risk too himself, Hoiberg always gets hammered on the fast breaks and gets hands in his face... the NBA does have its share of both tough guys and sissies.

If he had disciplined himself to work out and take better care of himself in the offseason instead of showing up lookin' like crap he probably coulda avoided some of his injuries the past couple seasons.
I dont think nba players are neccessarily soft. You really can't group them like that. You're rite, A LOT OF THEM ARE but I treat the NBA like regular society. About half of us are tough (to varying degrees of course), and the other half aren't...Same for the league... and I agree...Vince and Shaq are chumps

Like I said I got love for most cats in the L,just when I see stuff like missin' 5 games for a strained calf..that's ridiculous..just really frustrates me sometimes that these dudes are like that..least thing and they on the shelf. When you got minor injuries and sit out, thats when you know these cats put themselves before the team.

Iverson is a perfect example of players who play injured. Larry Bird was too, his back was killing him, he'd still play because they need him. They probably won't be at their best but they'll try their hardest and that's enough for it's the best you can get out of them at the time. Look at Madsen, mr. mad hustle, he'll probably get injured fighting for all those boards and loose balls, and Malik Rose as well. It's just a matter of game and preference, they have the ferocity, determination and strength and some people say Malone are so use to overpowering their opponents hence injuries don't really occur very often. But he's aged so he's lost some strength along the way.

Average at best IMO.
I agree, Im only 16 playing for a club in England, I have an ILLNESS which cant be cured but i do not want to go into that, It makes me weak, bad back, Tired,Etc, But when i go out on the basketball court, I play my heart out, I dive for loose balls, Ill take a charge, Ill get beat up on the boards and im a point guard, Then you god fatille o'neal who gets paid millons, They go home and cry to their mums im hurt, They have no heart, I am like the same built of iverson but an inch taller, I will play through pain, 4 years of playing through and ILLNESS and being one of the best for my age is a lot to me, These guys need to go work on their conditioning, and stop going out to lubs, casinos and party's they should be in the ym trying to improve thier game, Im sorry but vince is soft!!
it's bout money they rest these slight injurys to extend there playing time. most nab players are guilty of this
Remember Vince out dancing on his knee when he was on the injured list and was told to rest? Those Rap fans just never give up. Yes they should defend their "star" but they take it way too far with that team. (That is the majority of fans on this board, not all, chances are if you get offended, you are one, bwahaha)
You know what my word is for people like that KJ,Vince no matter how good he plays will always be seen as a god by Raptors fans.Fact is he is having a very average season, stats wise not even a quailty all-star.I would say a guy like Mike Redd deserves to make the team ahead of Vince Carter,It's just a shame that won't happen.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">Remember Vince out dancing on his knee when he was on the injured list and was told to rest?</div> I had never heard about that until now. That ish literally made me lol.
Every sport's got soft players; that's just the way it is. I'm really impressed by how tough some of these guys are. Ben Wallace has different problems every night, but he'll be out on the court even if he's crippled. AI gets beat up out there, but he still plays. You practically would have to drag these guys off of the court.

Yeah, I definatley think that Redd should be over Vince. Vince isn't really that great of a player anymore. People need to stop living in the past. And getting back on topic. This topic defines Eddy Curry. He is so soft and he has a terrible work ethic. It certainly shows.
