They is an absolute beast on the boards, A great defender and has great techniwue and footwork for his size, This guy deserved those mvp awards he out PLAYED they guy who everyone was saying deserved mvp, Not so, We still lost, But Tim has superstar written al over him, Im not going to set him up to fail, But you have to be great to play how he does, Peace!!
I still firmly believe Tim Duncan is the best player in basketball, sadly though players like Kevin Garnett have more overall talent on his team. Not saying Spurs will suffer in the playoffs but if we base it all on talent then guys who people consider right up there with Duncan (Garnett and Shaq) have more options on their teams. They don't need to completely dominate games for their teams to win anymore.Duncan still has to do that.He doesn't get enough credit for what he does night in night out. If only Jermaine O'Neal decided to sign in San Antonio, then it would be a totally different story.
Yea i know, I believe Tim is the best, Like yesterday KG, Has a bad game and fouled out, He has twp play-off players on his team, Who stepped up o it didnt lokk as bad, When Tim has a bad agem, everyone starts hating, But he does it all himself, He doesnt comaplin either, The best player in basketball no doubt!
Well I cant argue that TD got the best of that matchup last night but its still just one of 4 machups. I hear Joel 33 talking about he deserved those MVP's because he out played KG last night. MVP's are given based on a body of work during a full season not one game. Iam not arguing about who should have won the MVP these past 2 seasons all Iam saying is you cant judge based off of that one game. I think KG came out a little over hyped for last nights. It was the first time ever where he played Tim Duncan where KG felt like his weapons around him were as good or not better than Duncan's. KG knows that with shaq always injured the talk in the basketball world is who's better KG or TD. So he came out trying to prove that with equal weapons he is better than TD. KG did alot of things that he normally wouldnt do. And dont think for one moment that that game last night wasnt called by the Refs to give Duncan an advantage on his home floor. They have 3 more regular season games & possible playoffs to prove to the world which player is better. And why is everyone talking about KG has better teamates, when the same can be said for Duncan before this season. Duncan won the indiviual battle last night but KG won the Overall war cause his team got the victory. But there will be plenty more battles to come. PS-KG didnt foul out, he was in foul trouble.
Ok i though he fouled out, But anyways I said KG sometimes can hurt his team because he is sometimes over emotional, someone said i was talking rubbish, well was i wrong?, No, But i still believe Tim is better, And of course KG has a better team, Your telling me cassel, Kg, and spree are not better than Tim, Injured Manu, and Tony?, I think cassel and spree are better than tony and Manu, No doubt about it, But yes your right well just have to wait and see!!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Joel-33:</div><div class="quote_post">Ok i though he fouled out, But anyways I said KG sometimes can hurt his team because he is sometimes over emotional, someone said i was talking rubbish, well was i wrong?, No, But i still believe Tim is better, And of course KG has a better team, Your telling me cassel, Kg, and spree are not better than Tim, Injured Manu, and Tony?, I think cassel and spree are better than tony and Manu, No doubt about it, But yes your right well just have to wait and see!!!</div> I dont think his emotions hurt the overall play of the team. It is natural to have the feelings KG had. It was the biggest game of the year so far for both teams. People was calling it the matchup of the best 2 teams in the NBa everyone was hyped for the game. Even the spurs arena had more energy than it usally has for a regular season game. But his emotions didnt hurt the team.
Last night was not the only night where Duncan has dominated Kevin Garnett it often happens.Tim's post game is the real difference between the two.Garnett relies on his jumping ability more than his post game to put up impressive stats. The refs weren't at all biased towards Duncan last night. He gets calls because of the way he plays,he gets the calls because he attacks the basket hard using his great footwork in the post to get fouls called his defender. His free-throws are his only true weakness in his game. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And why is everyone talking about KG has better teamates, when the same can be said for Duncan before this season</div> Not really true at all,Duncan and Garnett have basically had the same talent in terms of support cast. It's the fact both players play differently has been the reason for different amount of success for the two players.Over the past 5 years Garnett has not come through for his team when it mattered in big games in the post season. That has changed from last year to this season though which is why he has been so hyped as the league MVP.
[quote name='allnet']Last night was not the only night where Duncan has dominated Kevin Garnett it often happens.Tim's post game is the real difference between the two.Garnett relies on his jumping ability more than his post game to put up impressive stats. The refs weren't at all biased towards Duncan last night. He gets calls because of the way he plays,he gets the calls because he attacks the basket hard using his great footwork in the post to get fouls called his defender. His free-throws are his only true weakness in his game. Thankyou. Someone who sees the same as me, Duncan is fundementally sound, He has owned KG on many occasions, Like allnet said KG relies on his athletisicm!
Duncan's supporting cast was better because they stepped up in the playoffs last year. Every round someone else stepped up. Other than Troy Hudson who gave KG help last year?Nobody. I'll give you the fact that in the past KG was to unselfish in the playoff, it wasnt that he didnt want to step up. When the T-wolves played Dallas in the 2002 playoffs. Dallas basicly threw their whole starting five on KG, so he had to pass the ball instead of taking shots with defenders all over him. Its the role players job to hit those wide open shots. KG cant make those shots for them. And Last year KG dominated the Lakers but he only had help from one player Hudson. Last season Tony Parker, Stephen Jackson, Steve Kerr made nothing but big shots. David Robinson played excellent defense all playoffs long. And Rose made alot of big plays off the bench. Please tell me when KG has ever had that amount of help as a t-wolve. He had great players on his teamin the pass like Steph & Googs but they were to young to know how to win a big playoff round. TD won his first title playing along side david Robinson who was still an MVP candiate. Duncan playoff success has been made alot easier than KG, because of the players around him.
I had a feeling this would turn into a Duncan/Garnett debate as it naturally does whenever this two players are talked about in the same sentence. Talent wise the role players were not that big a difference.Duncan got triple teamed every time he touched the ball in basically every series last season.Duncan made the following players better,Jackson,Bowen,Manu,Rose,Parker,Claxton. They had wide open shots and knocked them down which the Wolves players didn't do consistantly. However, you need to bare in mind the leadership and the fact Duncan's post game is far more all-rounded than Garnett's which is a large part of the success. It's not only the different role players but what each superstar does when the game is on the line. The Wolves threw away game 4 in L.A,Garnett blew the game at the line. They should of put that game in the past but did they? no...they let the Laker comeback get to them,Lakers got inside their heads.Which caused them to lose the last 3 games, therefore the series. Confidence is a huge factor in the NBA.Each leader of a team needs to motivate his team-mates to forget about games you lose and move on.All through the playoffs the Spurs won a game then dropped one, however they always bounced back the next game.Garnett's didn't seem to be able to help his team-mates when the going's got tough, while Duncan was always able to do that at tough stages. It's not just about players hitting open shots,It's the confidence and motivation factor which needs to be considered. For the record Garnett has my vote for league MVP,he has helped his team to top of the midwest division and deserves every bit of praise as he is getting. Going over this topic again was not my intention.Already been argued in the off-season along with many times before..It seems the debate will never end.
I can. I have always believed Tim Duncan to be the best player I've ever seen. I covet his game moreso than even Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls. As for KG, he's a great player. The main difference between the two is KG's athleticism. Never have you seen another big man run and play so fluently as if he were a point guard than Kevin Garnett. But Duncan's post game is the true meaning of "post game." He learned from Robinson and got better and better. As for the TWolves' help last year, they had Wally, too.
Yep and KG has better players around him now so he has no excuse And i agree, I used to not like duncan believe it or not, Even though i was a spurs fan, I thought he was boring, no emotion, slow, etc, But then i began to study his game, and saw how effective he was, His footwork, Rebouding, Passing for a big man, His "Post Game",His defense, And then i learned he does work hard, He does show emotion by just leading by example, Just because he doesnt bang his chest and jump up and down doesnt mean he he has no emotion, The uy is a winner, He will do whatever he has to do to win, Kg is great and matches duncan in most tings but Duncan is a smarter player, KG takes too mny chances on defense and offense, But i said it once i will say it again, Tim Duncan is the best player in the game, The most vauable player to their team, Period!
