Yes I know, and I have seen all the posts. I know the L made the rule about the 3 years because their star players didnt want to go to the dunk contenst and it was a cover up(KJ). But Why in a recent Toronto Star(within the last 10 days). On headings/little articles on the sides read "Vince carter still not decided if he will go to the all star game". That was about what the newspapaer said. Why would the paper report this. i know Vince won't show up for the Dunk Contest, but was there ever a chance for him to come back? any dunk showman to come back?

Heres a link from sportingnews.com that had dime magazine reporting on Nov.16 him contemplating on entering the dunk contest: Link <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And now, after the dunk contest being devoid of any real drama since, there's a slim glimmer of hope that we'll get Act II this year. It was reported yesterday that Vince is thinking about making a comeback this year in L.A. </div> ^but that was a long time ago on nov. 16th.
If the majority of the stars show interest, then Stern will let them play, easy as that. But it ain't gonna happen.
They have to give a large cash award then the dunkers that you guys want to see like Vince will show interest.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Big Nasty:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Vince better forget the DC this year..hate to see him break a hip or somethin'...</div> ain't that the truth The dunk contest should be the highlight of the season though. Carter McGrady Richardson Mason Francis Davis (Ricky) LeBron Who would not watch it, be serious with me.

Carter McGrady Richardson Mason Francis Davis (Ricky) LeBron Who would not watch it, be serious with me.</div> Out of that list only Mason Davis Lebron Richardson Would even be interested, the rest of more worried about staying heathly and therefore no hurt their hips doing a 360 dunk.Or in T-mac's case,a finger nail. However, yes that would be awsome to see.
I would love it with Vince Mason Davis LeBron Richardson without vinceor lebron i wont gonna watch that.i got something better to do.
Pretty much anyone who entered the dunk competition were major players in the league. I know it's really fun to watch, but it can be a real shame as well. Take Vince for example, people like him have nothing left to prove and might not be able to do well in it anymore either. If he doesn't enter he'll be doing the mature smart thing, the mature player he's become.
one player that i would like to see participate in the slam dunk contest is Gerald Wallace who is an awesome dunker. Last year, when the kings would be blowin someone out, the fans would chant "Wallace, Wallace" just so that they could see him dunk.
The stars (VC, Tmac et al) are pretty much concerned that they'll be defeated by lesser-known players. I'm sure VC would like to be remembered as the guy who won the DC a few years ago rather than the guy who got defeated by someone like Wallace.
I don't think Lebron or Davis are really that great of dunkers.( I know MANY will disagree) I see them more as game dunkers rather than Dunk contest dunkers. For example, when Lebron won the dunk contest in that McDonalds dunk contest, I didn't think his dunks were anything special what-so-ever. I would like to see: Carter Richardson Mason Last years dunk contest was pretty pathetic(Jefferson and Stoudemire )hopefully it will be better this time around
What current players in the league are capable of, and have already dunked from the free throw line? Has Vince done it?
do you think LeBron will be able to be in it with his ankle beat up? i think he would try his hardest to be able to compete but should he now?
LeBron was toying with those high school cats, even did so in the game itself. He is smart, he knwos to hold off until All-Star Weekend.
MORE speculation about Carter enteriung the DUnk Conteset this year. http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/esmith_040120.html
Vince Carter is the best dunker in the league...did u see that breakaway dunk at the cleveland game...he didn't even try
