Nice fit for Rivers if its true. The team is fairly similar to the old Hawks teams he played on, with a scoring point(Rivers and Terry), athletic 3(Jackson and Wilkens), all-around 4(Abdur-Rahim and Willis), and shot-blocking 5(Ratliff and Rollins).

But I don't think its true. I don't see Rivers coming back so soon, no matter what people say about his great coaching ability. I can see Rivers in an assistant position, scouting position, and even a front-office job before his next head job.

I havn't taken the time to register with the Sentinel yet, but even without reading the article I tend to believe that this rumor is true. Atlanta is now under new ownership, which from the looks of things is going to be willing to spend some money in order to start bringing the fans back to Philips. This is a perfect match for Doc and the Hawks, he was a fan favorite as a player, and in my opinion would be a tremendous success as a coach and/or GM in Atlanta.

Rumor has it that he turned down the opportunity to coach in New York, but I think that was due mostly to the magnitude of pressure and media attention that is so constant there. I see him taking the opportunity in Atlanta if the Hawks do decide to offer it, besides, he's really running out of viable options.

Wow, this is great news, Rivers has always been my favorite coach. He's really great, my heart really sank when he got fired from the Magic. I'm sure he can boost this team back up, especially working with a talent like SAR and mayhaps he can improve Terry. Thanks for sharing. Welcome back Doc!

Does 'Nique still work with the Hawks? If he does, that would be pretty cool to see Doc and 'Nique back together in Atlanta. With that duo back in the fold the Hawks have to improve.
