''I'm not one to cross my nose to spite my face. He might have a legitimate excuse. If that's the case, he'll be fined and life will go on. If he doesn't, then we'll deal with it. I never saw Miles like Swift, he seemed the hardworking and dedicated type in my eyes. I guess we're all irresponsible every now and then, Shaq misses practices. Silas is being very lenient and unbias, Miles should have some respect for how kind Silas is taking this and being to him. Hopefully nothing like this happens in the NBA anymore, or often anyway.
wonder if he overslept or was it a ploy of sorts to let cavs know he is not happy getting DNP's and/or diminished minutes?
He put together some good games in a small stretch last week, not sure why Silas did not give him much time in Utah.
Miles probably partied hard the night before and didn't feel like getting up at all, not even to call regarding his absence. I get like that sometimes. But you grow up and learn that it is a very irresponsible act. If you do that at your job, you get fired. $2,500? Thats a mighty fat fine, to miss work. Thats like 2 months of work for me. Its probably a weeks paycheck for him tho.
Bad that he got late to practise, or didn't even show up, but it's good that he got a fine from Cavs! He deserves it!
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sleeping in costs Miles $2,500 Darius Miles had two problems on his hands when he finally awoke Monday morning. First, it was around 11:30, and he was supposed to have started practice an hour and a half earlier with his Cavaliers teammates at Gund Arena. Second, there was a policeman at his door. Unable to reach Miles, who was AWOL from practice, by phone, the Cavaliers asked the police to go and make sure Miles was all right. He was, albeit a little embarrassed and, on Tuesday, a little lighter in the wallet. The team fined Miles $2,500 for skipping the practice but took no further action, cautioning him not to forget to set his alarm again. ``We'd just come from the West Coast and I hadn't gotten the time difference right,'' Miles said. ``When my friend woke me up and told me the police were downstairs, I was like `whoa,' I'm in two things (of trouble). I think they just wanted to make sure I was alive.''</div> Full Story
