Well I have a feeling Murray's minutes are gonna dwindle further...he should definitely be MIP, but I think Redd or Kirilenko will get it...
Forget all of them, my vote goes to Randolph. I knew Redd had the talent to be a nice guard, he just didn't get the time.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple N Gold:</div><div class="quote_post">I knew Redd had the talent to be a nice guard, he just didn't get the time.</div> The same applies for Randolph.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">The same applies for Randolph.</div> But with not as much impact. Randolph delivers a double double every game for the Blazers, and has put a mark that he is one of the best Fowards in the league. Plus, Redd still put up solid numbers last year, avg 15 points. Randolph avg around 8, with about 5 rebounds. Randolph's year is more suprising to me than Redd's. Put it this way, I knew Redd could be a nice scorer, but I didn't know Randolph could be a beast.
It has to be Zach Rondolph, this guy is so underrated too. He's one of the only 4 players to average a double-double...maybe 5 players do, not sure.
I wouldn't say it was surprising he is putting up these numbers, because he gave hints last season that he was capable of it. However, surprising or not I would agree he is the MIP.
I think this race is between Mike Redd and Zach Randolph, but Randolph has been sluggish lately, I think right now that he still has the upper hand though, if he can mantain this play for the rest of the year, he willw in it.
Murray has cooled off and I think Redd will go up against Randolph for MIP. Randolph takes it though. His stats are better than last year's.
I think it's Randolph, I love Redd and all, as well as Randolph and both undoubtly work hard. The fact of the matter is that Randolph has a tougher team to work with, the Blazers no longer have Bonzi. Also Redd gets the help from great people, Desmond Mason and TJ Ford. I cannot say who the harder worker is but let me tell you this, they're both deserving of it. As their career gets longer, they'll be fighting for more then that I assure you.
I agree with what Franchise3 said, Murray was really lighting up but now he has just cooled off. So I think its either Redd or Big Z
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple N Gold:</div><div class="quote_post">But with not as much impact. </div> Uh, yes. I was preaching about Randolph the day he was drafted. Everyone saw this coming when he had a 30+ pts and 20+ reb game last year.
There is no race for most improved player. It's Randolph, hands down, simply because of his numerical improvement. For those of you arguing that he was good already but just didn't get the minutes, that's nice ideology, but doesn't apply with MIP candidates. Just look at Jalen Rose, JO, and Tracy McGrady, 3 guys who everyone knew was good, but just didn't get either the minutes or the touches. Same goes with Randolph. Redd is playing well, so is Flip. But Randolph averaged junk last year, and this year is one of the few 20-10 players in the league. That is hands down MIP. Even those three guys I mentioned before didn't 'improve' that much in one year.
Randolph will win MIP, but I would pick Redd between the 2. That guy has a quick shot and it always seems to go in.

When I said that, I meant Redd's year isn't having as much impact as Randolph's. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting QRich3:</div><div class="quote_post">I think this race is between Mike Redd and Zach Randolph, but Randolph has been sluggish lately, I think right now that he still has the upper hand though, if he can mantain this play for the rest of the year, he willw in it.</div> He has not been sluggish at all, actually he's one of the most consistent Fowards in the league. Zach Randolph's Player Profile Look at those numbers down the strecth, he's been playing like a monster. This is like comparing T-Mac or to Duncan for MVP for example. You have TD, who puts up monster numbers, a double double every night. Then you have a T-Mac, who puts up a whole bunch of points on the board, and still picks up rebounds and assists. But still somehow, Duncan keeps winning it right? Not counting record, because I don't think record goes into consideration for MIP.
It's obviously going to be Redd, or Randolph. But Randolph is going to win it, because he was junk last year, and now he's putting up all-star numbers.

No one has said that record should count for MIP, and if it did, it wouldn't matter, since the Blazers and Bucks have similar records anyway. But in the case of TD and TMac, TD's numbers themselves are more convincing, even without the wins.
Randolph! 22 and 14 every night after last season's 8 and 4? The L should start craving his name on the trohpy now...
