I'll stick to Curtis Staples...his percentage wasn't the greatest, but that was due to the fact he had to force so many of them...HE HIT ALMOST 4 TREYS A GAME HIS ENTIRE COLLEGE CAREER!!! ALL-Time NCAA record... and he did it hitting almost 40%. btw, this is a 3pt thread, why are we talking about free-throws...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting notMuchgame:</div><div class="quote_post"> btw, this is a 3pt thread, why are we talking about free-throws...</div> It's very closely related to three-point shooting. Free-throw shooting is shooting, just like three-point shooting is. Making the point about how Archie hit 99 out of 100 free-throws helps illustrate my point that he's a pure shooter. I wasn't nessicarily saying he was a good three point shooter because he hit free-throws.
that archie guy means nothing.. so what, he can make 99 out of 100 free throws in an empty gym. put him in madison square garden vs. syracuse with 20,000 screaming fans, and i'll assure you he wouldn't make 99 out of 100 free throws. big time players play in big time games, clearly that kid wasn't one of them. i could should 90%+ from the free throw line... when i'm by myself.. and don't have people standing on the left and the right of me.. and another 10k+ in the stands chanting and screaming and holding up signs and trying to distract me. being little doesn't stop you from getting into the nba, neither does being a shooting guard.. or a lack of ball handling skills. if the kid was that great of a shooter from anywhere.. some team must have looked at him.. or would at least sign with an aba team or a nbdl team.. and i just recognized that last post.. here's someone to void off every 3 pt shot and free throw line percentages comparison. BRUCE BOWEN. he must be missing a whole lot more. maybe a leg. there's a lot more people in the nba now that can't shoot, and can dribble.. hence the god awful shooting percentages which make me want to cry. casey jacobson and kyle korver don't do crap, they stand in the corner and wait until someone draws double coverage so they can get the ball and shoot a 3..

Archie has knocked down 100% of his free-throw when playing in the NCAA Tournament, and against apponens like Indiana, Louisville, Mississippi State, and pretty much all the Big Ten teams. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">big time players play in big time games, clearly that kid wasn't one of them.</div> So I suppose Boby Cousy wasn't a big-time player because he went to Holy Cross, and I guess that Karl Malone wasn't a big-time player because he went to Louisianna Tech. Archie won big-time games for Butler. Do you remember the NCAA Tournament last year? I have a feeling you didn't watch it. From what I saw, Archie is money in big games. Butler upset Mississippi State (Austin, Zimmerman, Bowers, etc.) and then upset Louisville (Reece Gaines, Marvin Stone, etc.) in the next round. Butler beat all of those teams who had all of those great NBA-bound players and made it to the sweet sixteen mostly because or Darnell Archie. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">i could should 90%+ from the free throw line... when i'm by myself.. and don't have people standing on the left and the right of me.. and another 10k+ in the stands chanting and screaming and holding up signs and trying to distract me.</div> I don't believe you're that good of a shooter, but that's not really arguable. You don't think fans didn't try to distract Archie on away games? Not only did Butler have to go play teams like Indiana in the toughest arenas to play in, but teams like Ball State's crowds can be just as distracting as the fans at Syracuse or Connecticut. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">being little doesn't stop you from getting into the nba, neither does being a shooting guard.. or a lack of ball handling skills.</div> You're wrong again, sir. I'm sure you've heard of the Collegiate Basketball Naismith Award, but have you ever heard of the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award? Apparently you haven't. It's an award given out to the best short player in college basketball every year. Some previous winners have been Steve Logan, Rashad Phillips (Detroit), and Earl Boykins. Boykins is holding down a steady job in the NBA, but the other two are league hopping. However, the one thing that helps them do so is their ball handling, afterall, they're point guards. Archie has no ball handling, and he tries to play shooting guard. Imagine tiny Darnell Archie being passed the ball on the wing and trying to go one on one with 6-9 LeBron James or 6-7 (?) Kobe Bryant. He's be stripped or blocked within a few seconds. Players are kept out of the league because of their height and ball handling before, so when you consider he lacks both you can see why he's not in the league. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">if the kid was that great of a shooter from anywhere.. some team must have looked at him.. or would at least sign with an aba team or a nbdl team..</div> I'm almost positive that Archie is pursuing a career outside the NBA, but if not then I'm sure he's having a successful career in Europe. You're opinions are pretty ludacris. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">there's a lot more people in the nba now that can't shoot, and can dribble.. hence the god awful shooting percentages which make me want to cry. casey jacobson and kyle korver don't do crap, they stand in the corner and wait until someone draws double coverage so they can get the ball and shoot a 3..</div> They have some ball handling, and they are in the 6-6/6-9 range. Archie could smoke Corver in a three-point contest. Infact, he DID smoke Corver in a three-point contest last year. Do you remember the NCAA's Three-Point contest that Archie won?

Size matters...a lot of great college players don't make it to the league because they don't fit the nba mold..
