Eddie House, over the past handful of games has averaged 13 points, 3 assists and 2.5 steals off the Clipper bench in an average of only 25 minutes. Though he's not a traditional PG, the Clippers always seem to play better basketball when Eddie has the ball in his hands. In stark contrast to Marko Jaric's erratic, sometimes careless play, House has a knack for settling the team down and producing quality opportunities on the offensive end. I'm not really down on Marko's game, just his inconsistency. Taking in to account the fact that he's still learning the game at an NBA level, the truth is that with Marko's double-digit experience in the European leagues, both of these players have logged roughly the same amount of hours on a basketball court. House has been a consistent bench contributor since coming into the league with Miami, and this year appears to have taken his game to the next level. Like many players who studied under coach Riley and moved on to success elsewhere, he's become a leader. In my opinion, Eddie's play since coming off the IL is deserving of a shot at the starting lineup. Jaric has had some excellent performances during his brief stint as the Clippers starting point, but also many inconsistent, poorly played games as well. The assist-to-turnover season stats break down to : 2:1 for Jaric, and 3.2:1 for House. House's 3.2:1 would rank comparably among the league's leaders. Though both players have their individual strengths, the numbers paint a fairly favorable picture for Eddie House. I doubt a change will be made, but I don't see the harm in giving the experiment a try. Of course you wouldn't want to deplete your bench, but Jaric seemed comfortable in his lesser role coming off the bench last season. Personally, I want the players which give my team the greatest opportunity to succeed on the floor, and as consistently as possible. It'll be an interesting dilemma for Mike Sr. if things continue to go the way they have been lately - he might have no other choice than to make the change. Have the Clippers had that productive, veteran leader they've been in such dire need of sitting on the bench this entire season?
Although I do like House more than Jaric, I would just keep playing House off the bench. I don't think they should be changing starters just because a player played a few good games. They've been playing with that starting lineup for a while now, and I wouldn't mess with it until they got a better PG. Both are more of a SG than point, but I think Jaric still does destribute the ball a little better than House. I'm glad House is finally getting some minutes!
Yea, I agree with Phreeze...House is more of an "off the bench spark plug" player..I don't like Jaric or Dooling either...there are a handful of pgs in the NBDL I'd rather have running the point...
House feels like Gooden, DMase or Boykins, meaning better off the bench. He'll put in some good support, relief and numbers if you give him time. Being a starter might be too much of an overwhelming hassle for him if you ask me. He's doing pretty well as it is and playing very well, look at that improvement from playing more. Give him time, that's I gotta say.
Yeah, I like Jaric as a starter, and I feel he should continue to be the starter. Not because I think he does more, because House is a nice spark off the bench, I'm not sure Jaric could give you that, and sometimes, it's better to be in that position.
I don't know, I think Jaric was actually pretty comfortable coming off the bench last season. He tends to be a high-energy player, which at times causes him to wear down quickly. He started 12 of 66 games last season in which he averaged 20.9 mpg. This year he's started 26 of 34 and averaged 28.7 mpg. An eight minute difference, yet the only statistical category Marko really substantially improved on is assists (+ 1.5 difference). Last season he also shot a higher percentage from the floor and from the line. I'm just posing the question of a possible change in order to produce a short term solution for this team. The Clippers are still counting on Marko to become their PG of the future, but at this point in the season they could use a boost if they still have their sights set on any possibility of making the postseason. Jaric has had some good games for them this month, but at times he's looked completely inept. The only consistent part of his game is turnovers, and when your starting PG gives the ball away 3 to 4 times per game it makes things much more difficult for both the offense and the defense.

Was he a big time scorer at Hayward? I'm assuming he must have put up some pretty big numbers there, because he was a scoring machine at ASU. He even tied Alcindor's Pac10 record with 61 points in a game against Cal in '00. I thought he would surely get a chance to start when he got to the NBA.

Every top university wanted to get this guy into their basketball program. But he chose to go to Arizona State. His Hayward Farmer #5 jersey is retired and it stays up in the rafters when you enter their gym. Kinda interesting.
