<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Fishball:</div><div class="quote_post">interesting... but how do you know charlotte is going to pick #4?</div> That's their set pick since they are an expansion team. They automatically get the 4th overall pick in the draft. I think Deng would be a very nice player to start to build a franchise around. I just hope the Magic end up with him, and hopefully he plays well enough next year for them, and shows signs of stardom so that he can possibly keep T-Mac from opting out of his contract after next year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ravenous:</div><div class="quote_post">If he leaves Duke this year....I think he'll be a top 5 pick in the draft...he can play!</div> I mean this with the upmost respect but no **** shirlock. Really thought, Deng will be a top 5 pick for sure and I do not see him slipping past Charlotte with the 4th pick. The kid is simply amazing. He has good size, hands, and a complete game. Coach K has even said he might be the best freshman that has ever played for him, which is pretty much as high of a compliment as you can get.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting starman85:</div><div class="quote_post">There's been quite a bit of talk of Deng going with the 4th pick to Charlotte.</div> I'd personally like to see Charlotte draft Pavel Podkolzine out of Russia. They're a new team and have nothing to lose by drafting a project over a PF in my opinion. They will have years before becoming a good team, and if done right, I think they could develope him into a good center, which could dominate the east. There isn't any rush for this new team to try to build a team, and a project I think would be a good start. I don't know much about this year's draft class, but unless there is some exciting player like VC in the draft pool, a center is the way to go. Charlotte shouldn't have to worry about attendance because it is such a new team, I would expect they will be able to sell some tickets just based on that. I haven't seen much of Pavel, but from all I heard about the scouts raving about him, and a clip of his workouts, it seemed like he has some potential in the NBA. He has decent size, and isn't another Bradley, and I've heard he really can get around for a big guy.
a new franchise should draft a franchise cornerstone and given Deng's complete all around game (passing, rebound, scoring), the Bobz should draft and build around this guy... just like the Cavs do with that 19 year old once-a-lifetime gem...
Deng is good but I just dont think he has the upside of Dwight Howard and Kosta Perovic. Charlotte will try to trade for Howard if they can. The three teams who most likely will get the first pick are Atlanta Chicago and Orlando , all of them have decent PF's. So they will trade down . Atlanta wants Kosta Perovic to replace Ratliff, but he is very similar to Darko.
I think the Bobcats should definately draft him. His all-around ability is amazing and I believe he can become another Garnett.
How many points is Deng averaging on Duke? If the Bobcats have the opportunity to draft him I think they should do it He's a do everything player that will help them to build the franchise up (and picking some good FA).
deng.. top 5? i doubt it. another garnett? no. awful comparison. deng doesn't even lead his own collegiate team in scoring. nor does he lead it in rebounding. nor does he lead it in fg percentage. nor does he lead it in blocks per game. which he isn't that good defensively to begin with. and he's awful at the line. he needs to stay in school. like elton brand, carlos boozer, shane battier, all them, 6 years.

Deng, another Grant Hill. Similar size, similar games, both went to Duke. Deng is averaging 14 ppg, 7 rpg, 2 apg, 1 spg, 1 bpg on a stacked Duke team. Every night, Luol will only get around 9-12 shots.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ravenous:</div><div class="quote_post">If he leaves Duke this year....I think he'll be a top 5 pick in the draft...he can play!</div> yes i have to agree with that plus im a big Duke fan! I really dont think he will leave Duke this year though he loves it to much. But if he does he will probaly be a 1 or a 2 draft. Not a 5
I don't think he goes draft, and, if he does, he won't be #1 or #2 probably. Mainly cause I would put money on Okafor going 1st. He's got the opportunity to be something like another Karl Malone. He's got similar size and strength and a decent jumper. He is also a great rebounder and a teriffic blocker, hence why he leads the nation in blocks and is top 5 in rebounds. His only downfall really is range on the jumper, not too great, and he is Shaq-like with free throws. In other words, not very good. Plus, there are also other players like Jameer Nelson who have a very good chance at going high. But, Deng, he would probably be a lottery pick if he were to go, which, I don't think he will, but, he wouldn't be #1 or #2. But, than again, I could be wrong. I guess you never know. But, yea, I don't think this guy is going draft. Especially if Duke doesn't win it all.
If deng goes along with okafor i will be with all respect.... both are some of the best in the college game.... but if i had deng and okafor on the draft board id litterally flip a coin.... both posses amazing talent but in the end Deng is one of those rare breed of players who plays 4/5 postions.... Versitallity is the key
I like Luol Deng and all but if I were the Bobcats I would either go with 7-5 Pavel or Shaun Livingston (The 2nd coming of Penny Hardaway without the injuries  ) I also don't think Luol Deng is the kind of guy you can build around...I think you can build around a 7-5 center or a 6-7 point guard

Deng is the versitale rare breed of players who can play 4, maybe 5 positions on the court... I see deng as a Darius Miles with a shot ranther than the dunk.... I dont know much about livingston but he'll be my 1st target in next years keeper league draft.... Pod is a couple of years away rform the draft due to lack of scoring.... but he does bring an intiminating presence to the game at 7'5 300 lbs and 18... but if he goes this year he wont see amazing playing time
Deng Turning Pro <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sources close to the program indicate that Duke freshman SF Luol Deng has decided to enter the draft. Look for an announcement in the next week. Deng had said all along that he would return to Duke for his sophomore season. And up until a week ago it appeared he had his mind made up. </div>
