Davild Aldridge just reported on ESPN news... The Knicks/Blazers/Hawks are discussing a 3 team that would have the knicks recieving Shareef Abdul Raheem and Ruben Patterson...The Hawks recieving Rasheed Wallace and Franks Williams and the Blazers getting Keith Van Horn,Nazr Mohamed, and Mike Sweetney. This isnt the full content of the Report.. more picks are thrown in it...
Interesting,Knicks easily win this trade in terms of overall production, don't get this move for Portland at all.Keith Van Horn is the last guy they need considering he has that big contract. Is this just a rumour or is it close to happening?
Huge, this deal works out very well for New York and Atlanta. I guess it's good for Portland also, considering the fact that they'll be able to rid themselves of Wallace and free up some cap space. - Oops, just checked the salaries and Van Horn is owed 30 mil. over the next two seasons. Ouch. That doesn't make very much sense, but then again KVH's numbers are comparable to Sheed's for this season at least: Van Horn : 16.8 ppg. 7.2 rpg. 1.6 apg. .442 FG% Wallace : 17.3 ppg. 6.8 rpg. 2.7 apg. .431 FG% The Knicks will have a starting five of Marbury, Houston, Abdur-Rahim, Thomas and Mutombo! That's a pretty imposing group.
if I were Isiah I wouldn't trade for Reef... just look at what the Hawks got for in getting him... ticket compensation to fans (and they had Big Dog)! I would not say the Hawks management was dumb for making playoff promises that year, if I were the management I would do the same too. A team with Reef, JT, and Big Dog and Theo in the middle in the weak Leastern conference not riddled with injuries should get into playoffs. No offense Reef but it seems there's a jinx that a team with you on it will not make playoffs  And getting rid of Van Horn at this point is not very wise of the Knicks since he looks to have re-emerged from the dead (20+ pts in four consecutive games in one stretch this season).
Very good deal for the Knicks. Knicks are the center of attention right now. How many deals will they have before it's all said and done?
Good deal for the Knicks and the Blazers, Hawks don't matter at the moment, Wallace would just bold after the season, giving the Hawks a lot of cap space to sign a player that just wants a big contract this summer.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kvh4fan:</div><div class="quote_post">Poor Van Horn. If that happens, it'll be 4 teams in 3 years.</div> Looks like he's after Jim Jackson's record. Good trade for all the teams IMHO. As for Atl, I'm sure they're not planning to keep Sheed for long. They'd prefer a younger gun.
For Portland, this is a small step back, same with Atlanta unless Sheed steps it up in the East. The Knicks really came out the winners here. Reef should be able to really use his size against the smallish 3's in the East, and teamed with Thomas and Mutombo makes the best rebounding frontline in basketball right now, potentially. Reef might have that stigma about him that he can't make the playoffs(which has been true for his career), but in New York not only can he end that, he could easily wind up being the Knicks' leading scorer.
Wow, if this goes down, which I think it will because Isiah is pulling the trigger on everything even though we still have to more teams that need to agree, The Knicks would jump up even more in the east Starbury, H20, SAR, and Kurt...that is pretty nice, Isiah is making that team fun to watch again..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Waneko:</div><div class="quote_post">That's what happens to players that are grossly overrated.</div> I don't really think he's overrated. He's just one of those players that going into a game you don't know if he'll be a huge disapointment or play great.
I'm going to New York in march to see Knicks v Raptors Will be interesting to see their team play if this trade happens.
I love this trade for all teams. This trade will give atlanta a star that could potentially help there team and maybe even draw free agents their in the off season. Good for portalnd because of their underachieving and and the numbers of van Horn are sufficient. Finally the Knicks, I love this trade for them because this trade gives Shareef the oppurtunity to blossom into the superstar that he can be. Now Reef has a pass first point guard to work with that could really blow up his numbers.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kvh4fan:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't really think he's overrated. He's just one of those players that going into a game you don't know if he'll be a huge disapointment or play great.</div> I also don't think Van Horn is overrated, actually he's a little underrated IMO. People criticize him so much for everything that he isn't, they forget everything he is, which is a 17-7 guy. Overpaid? Hell yea. Overrated? Definitely not.
Well Iam going against the usual train of thinking here. I say this is a bad trade for the Knicks. Van Horn is the perfect fit for Marbury now that Steph's willing to pass the ball to him. Van Horn jumper could be what takes the Knicks to the playoffs. With steph on the court Van horn's going to get alot of good looks. And he despite what poeple might think has made alot of big jumpers in past playoff runs(especially for the Nets in 2002). Shareeff is a great player, but he has never played on a team where the games mean anything in april & may come playoff time. The game is played on a whole different level during that time. New York is the hardest place in the world to play when your fighting for a playoff spot, what has Rahim ever done that says he can handle that type of pressure. He is a great player but he hasnt ever proven that he can take a team to the next level or even the playoffs. So for that reason I would keep Van Horn who has basicly proven everybody wrong this season. Everybody, said Van Horn couldnt handle coming back to the New York area because of the way the New York media, pretty much ate him up during his Nets days. But not only has he handle the pressure, IT can be said that from the start of the season until now Van horn has been the Knicks most consistent preformer. I think Van Horn has proven to have more heart than people ever gave him credit for having. I think the thing that hurt Van Horn the most was that he was to overratted coming out of college playing at University of Utah. He came out the sam year as Duncan. And alot of people try to hype him as being as good as Duncan. I remember when his former teamate Jason Williams was running around calling Van Horn the next Larry Bird. That type of hype was just to much. But Van Horn is starting to prove himself as being a very good second or third option. A player that can give you 15 or 16pts & 7 or 8 rebs. And expand oposing teams defenses because they have to respect his 3pt range. I have found new respect for Van horn because of the way he has handled him self on the big stage of playing at the garden. And I think the Knicks should think twice before trading him even for a talented guy like Rahim. I think Van Horn brings playoff experience that this team might need come late in the season when the Knicks are battling for one of those last few spots.
I dont like the move...the Knicks are starting to mesh as a team and it looks like Marbury and KVH have gotten over there problmes....they should keep keith in my opinion!
