Verticals

Has anyone here seen the 2003 NCAA Dunk Contest? Like 3 guys in there got above 43 inches! That was an insane dunk Contest! John Humphrey was bad a$$! Also, Stevie Franchise has a 45 Inch vert... There is no way VC has a 50 Incher. That's crazy! Some guy from SlamNation, though, has some huge hops, because he did a 360 between the legs! It was crazy! I have the Vid! PM me with ur AIM SN and I'll hook u up...

Quoting notMuchgame:

I hope you don't actually believe that garbage....

What would make u think I believe that. Everybody got on his ass about saying that. I've never heard of someone jumping 5 feet, let alone 6'3. That sh!t is crazy. Might as well be able to fly, because that's just ridiculous. Oh and I got that 360 between the leg dunk, guy named Abdoul from that http://www.streetball.spb.ru/vidz/video_clips.html

That was posted earlier on the special dunk affect thread. Thanks for posting that up. Oh when that site got shut down, I meant to be sarcastic. No one would be that naive to believe someone jumping that high.

Lets see, the 40 inch leapers in the nba are

J-Rich/Steve Francis/Kedrick Brown/Lebron James/VC/Ricky-D/Darvin Ham/D-Mase/Jeff Trepagnier/and I herd Ben Wallace had 42 inch leap. Antonio Mcdyess before he got injured, oh yeah B-Diddy and Fred Jones. Probaly still missing some people. That's all I can think of right now. :mob:

Are you sure Kedrick Brown has a 46.5"? I seriously never could have guessed that! I'd have picked Jason Richardson or Steve Francis... anyway good list.

By the way, Rex Chapman had a 39" vert... and he was WHITE! Pretty big thing back then.

Kedrick "the J-Kidd slapper" Brown, whoa, what a vertical almost 50", does anyone actually have a 50" vertical anywhere, streetballers maybe? Speedy Claxton can dunk? I never knew that. Thanks for sharing, very interesting to see those names up there. Francis and B Dizzle sure jump high.

Yea i been a fan of speedy because i used to be a sixer fan a few years ago..He had like a 40+ leap in college..Then his first season in the league he coudlnt play because he tore his acl..But he's got a lot of his vert back though!....

As for Kedrick Brown..He is by FAR..The most EXPLOSIVE athlete..I have EVER seen in my 16 years on this EARTH ok..Im exaggerating just a BIT..But for real though..This guy can hang in the air for like 3 seconds..Only problem is....He is a PATHETIC dunker..But if you check some of his rebounds or put backs..He gets his head level or over the rim with EASE...I got a nets-cavs video of earlier this season..And on one rebound he garbbed it with just his left arm..He got up so high his head was rim level..Just to think he didnt try just stood there and exploded up..Amazing..Now only if he had vince's Carters mentality.. Vertical is straight up, has nothing to do with how players dunk the ball being measured.

James is a one foot jumper, Francis a 2 foot jumper. When they measure your vert they have you stand straight with no steps and jump off of 2 feet.

James can put his chin on the rim, and this guy is 6'8" 245 lbs.

And no, I am not saying he has the highest, fact is no one knows when it comes to dunking the basketball.

Wow, an upgrade of my own thread. Some guys I don't agree with. I know this isn't the standing verts, don't know one wanna list anybody's real vert. Some guys jump a whole foot to even 17 inches higher with a running start. Anyways, I don't think Kobe can hit 40, especially 42. His head has never ever been leveled with the rim. Chris Andersen jumps a lil higher and if James can put his chin on the rim, that'll probaly give him a 47. I believe he jumps higher then 40 fo sho. He gets his head leveled with the rim more then any one else in games. Oh and like the warriorsfan said, J-Rich is probaly 6-2 tops, so that would give him a 46 as well.

good point king james. I didn't really even think about that, huh. Vertical doesn't really mean everything for jumping, but it is a pretty good measure. Plus 40" is still really high.
