UMass (6-11, 1-5 Atlantic 10), which had lost seven straight games, blew a 23-point lead in the second half and fell behind 65-62 with 1:32 to play.

Temple (6-9, 1-4) trailed 39-22 at halftime before staging runs of 18-2 and 11-0 to go ahead. David Hawkins had 22 points after scoring only three in the first half. Mardy Collins added 16 for the Owls.

Bowers went 7-for-11 from the field and led UMass with 19 points, while Rashaun Freeman had 16 points and Anthony Anderson added 12.

Except for a 4-2 deficit at the start, UMass had things all its own way in the first half.</div>
