Why would they do that? He led the Nets to two NBA finals in the last two years. That's just dumb for the nets.

WOW, I did not see this coming until the end of the year, i thought that was when they would fire him, i guess that loss to ATL hurt them

For now, it's their assistant coach.

I don't like this move at all. It wasn't like New Jersey was in dead last in their division. They were in first place, they were playing I thought consistent basketball, and this is just late January! Who knows what kind of run this team would've made in late April straight to the playoffs? I feel Byron Scott's firing was stupid and unnecessary. I hope that he can find a new job somewhere else. A place where he'd feel wanted.

Same went for Carlisle right? In my opinion he was a pretty bad coach, kind of as bad as the former Celtic Coach. He was hot headed and never seemed to get the big picture, plus he played favorites, much like Larry Brown and usually depended on them. Where would he be if they played badly? I say good riddance, maybe you can get your hands on Doc Rivers instead.

I always thought Byron was overrated as a coach. It was obvious Eddie Jordan was a huge asset to that team and pretty much had full control over the offense.

I don't agree waiting this long for Nets to finally make a move. They should of fired Scott after the finals, pushed Eddie Jordan to become head coach and therefore not suffer during the season by causing chemistry problems within the team.

Bad timing, thats all it really is.

How crazy is this? Who are they going to replace him with. I know the assiastant coach is there now. But who will coach them now? Will the players get along with him? Ideas George Karl??? Doc Rivers??? Sidney Lowe??

this is just like Doc being fire...in a 10 games losing streak and Johnny davis had a long losing streak too..is not the coach..something is different in the team why would it be the coach's foul when last 2 years they went to the finals? anyways ill love to see doc rivers there.

This was a very bad move for the Nets. Even if they felt they had a solid replacement for him then the move would have been questionable, but they lack any sort of permanent replacement. The biggest knock against Scott was the suspected problems between him and Kidd; what are the Nets gonna do now, hunt for some coach that gets along with Kidd?

If I was the GM I would choose either George Carl or Doc Rivers, but I would definitly knock off Don Chaney.

Wow....Why now? He led them to two finals and there is no solid replacement except for the Asistant coach. They shoulda done it after the playoffs.

If I were a Nets fan, I would not be very happy.

First place in the worst division in basketball? Floating around a .500 record? That sure says a lot.

totally agree with you. as a nets fan, iv been disgusted with them this year. inconsistant play, ups and downs.

in the world of coaching, its all about "what have you done for me lately". they may have gone to the finals the past two years, but on the track they're on this year, they wont be going back a 3rd time. a change needed to be made, and this one made the most sense.

there are lots of good coaches that can be replaced. there is only one jason kidd.

He led the team to two Finals appearances. So what?! You are just as good as your last game. The fact is, he's not contributing this year. Players are obviously disgusted. But I agree that the timing is off. They should've gotten Eddie Jordan but there are talks that their new coach is the new Van Gundy. [IMG]

I knew it was coming. He isnt that great of a coach. He was lucky his team got to the Finals twice. It was because the east sucked. Now that it got better they are loosing.
