It's inevitable that he's going to be traded before the trade deadline. Where could he go and what teams want him? What could we get for him?
inevitable? oh man I really like him I wish he could stay at least for next season we can't afford to lose another veteran plus he is still young!
Why is it inevitable? He is a bargain for his contract. I don't see how Orlando will improve by getting rid of Howard.
me neither you saw him last night? I think the numbers speak for itself..he is the 2nd biggest scorer for the magic...and like 2nd or 3rd in rebounds.Im telling you are smart you dont let him go , and if you are howard you try to have your best games now.
1 good game does not cover for an entire season. Sportsrock is 100% correct, Howard has been on the block for months and it is just a matter of time. The Magic need to find players that fit in better with McGrady better.
I repeat..he has been good the ENTIRE season..he has pefect attendance along with gooden..only two players without missing a game..and he still manages to be 2nd leader scorer..I took last night as an example since a few more people probably saw that game.
The problem with the Magic is defense, everyone knows this. Magic are 29th in points allowed, 28th in Opp. FG%, 23rd in total rebounds. You don't win games when you do this, plain and simple. The big guys are not getting the job done. I don't want to hear this crap about not having a center either, Shaq, Yao, and Z (though he is soft) are the only true centers left in the NBA, everyone else has 2 power forwards up front. So looks like Howard and Gooden have done what you expected of them
howard and gooden usually dont play at the same time..and the biggest man we have is Steven Hunter at 7'0 and he doesnt even get to play most of the games I dont know why.
no..cavs are 3 wins away from being tied at the 10th spot..(not enough for playoffs)at this time any team in the eastern conference can still go to playoffs .. lol
King James I agree that there are no centres left in the league. But I don't think Howard is that bad defensively. It takes an entire team to play defense. Trading one guy for a Theo Ratliff let's say, will not make the magic any better defensively. It's a whole team commitment that needs to happen. Perhaps more of a coaching philosophy change is what is needed. TMAC is the worst for not playing defense, are they going to trade him?
If Magic trade Howard don't expect much back, draft picks or young talent that don't get minutes would likely be heading Orlando's way.Howard can score but he is inconsistant, doesn't play defense, average rebounder, plays lazy at times and isn't a good fit for the Magic. I said before the season the Howard/Gooden frontcourt wouldn't work, they need to get rid of at least one.Howard is the guy they need to ship.
I'm not 14, I know it takes a whole team, but the big guys are your last line of defense. They are supposed to protect the basket at all costs. You took what I said and ran too far with it. I am sure sportsrock/Ice Breaker, 2 of the most loyal Magic fans on any message board understand what I am saying.
Yes, I do. The whole point is to give Gooden his minutes and touches. He needs to get some experience. I talked with a reliable source and he said that we'll trade him by the deadline. I doubt we'll get anything too valuable, but we'll lose his 5 year contract. I would like a deal that involves Giricek, Lue and Howard to get a good pg. He also said that Tmac, Gooden, Zaza, and Bogans are the only people that wouldn't be involved in the deal, so anyone can be a part of this deal. They could possibly trade with Washington because they are loaded at the pg position. Not sure if Washington really wants howard back though. Tmac is underrated defensively. You guys say he really sucks, he isn't that bad. I wouldn't call him a top defensive player, but he's above average.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting jenike:</div><div class="quote_post">TMAC is the worst for not playing defense, are they going to trade him?</div> lol dude , where you've been? he is compared with MJ because he is really good at BOTH ends of the floors.. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">I am sure sportsrock/Ice Breaker, 2 of the most loyal Magic fans on any message board understand what I am saying. </div> I understand that too..whats your definition for loyal fans?I respect both sportsrock and ice..but a 2 games losing streak will turn their comments and previews completely against the magic..I dont even remember the last time Ice's take was a Magic win. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sportsrock37:</div><div class="quote_post">The whole point is to give Gooden his minutes and touches. McGrady is no where near the defender that MJ was, that is being extremely biased. I know, what a shocker...
Mcgrady was never really compared to MJ,everyone knows Jordan had that amazing attuide to win, play hard on both ends, wanted the ball when the game was on the line, played great defense, several all defensive first team appearances, never moaned about injuries he got the job done by doing whatever was asked of him. Those quailties are something Mcgrady doesn't have.
1st, all I want is Gooden to get the majority of the time at PF. That's the only way that he will improve. 2nd, It's not BS, Lue just doesn't have good defense and shoots way too many stupid shots. Rod took a couple last night too. 1st off, no one wants Gaines and Strickland. 2nd off, Shammond would be the backup. I would like to see Hunter and Zaza continue to get time, so that's why I think we should get a pg.
My turn. Howard has been playing good recently but when we really needed him sometimes he didn't show up. I like the way he'ss improved from the beginning of the season to the present. But something gots too go.
Tracy McGrady is as good a perimeter defender as there is. Anytime he has gone against a top notch swingman he has outplayed them. It is rarely that you see T-Mac getting outplayed , Michael Redd outplayed him about a week ago and I was shocked, cuz Tracy always scorches the Bucks for 45+ . The problem with T-Mac is that he doesnt move a lot in the zone defense. But one on one he can shut any swinman down. Ron Artest , Kobe Bryant and Bruce Bowen are able to play their man up tight cuz they have something T-Mac doesnt a dominant shot blocker. Tim Duncan , J'Oneal and Shaq are three of the best shot blockers in the league. ( dont give me that crap about Shaq not having great block stats cuz that is bull he intimidates like no other) Two of those three guys are the 2nd or 3rd option on their team. I agree T-Mac doesnt make his teammates better on the defensive end, but how many Guards have done that by themselves. You could say MJ but he wasnt even the best defender on his team he had Scottie Pippen ( best perimeter defender of all time) Dennis Rodman ( he was a big time shot blocker ) and Ron Harper (a big PG). Remember that in Toronto T-Mac was known as a defensive stopper cuz he didnt need to do as much. He once averaged 2 block a game. T-Mac is a good good defender a level below Kobe and Ron ( i dont consider Bruce Bowen a top notch defender cause San Antonio is the best in the league at help defense.) Remember last year in the playoffs aginst the Lakers, anytime Kobe was isolated against Bruce he scored. But they kept running people at Kobe and it got him out of his game. Ron, Kobe , and Tracy dont need help to guard anyone. As for the best defenders in the league I would have to go with: 1. Tim Duncan (Knows how to shadow the guards, prevents guys from driving) 2. KG ( does the same thing) 3. Big Ben (great effort but lacks size, doesnt know how to shadow) 4. J ' Oneal 5. Shaq notice that there is no guard on the list and thats because basketball is a big mans game.
