<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chris Webber hasn't played yet. Shaquille O'Neal hasn't cared yet. Yao Ming hasn't gotten angry yet. Rasheed Wallace hasn't been shipped to Mars yet. Larry Brown hasn't quit yet.

The Warriors haven't fired, traded, choked or suspended anybody yet.

In other words, the first half of the NBA regular season hasn't exactly provided definitive answers to the big questions. Yet.

We're just waiting -- for the Los Angeles Lakers to get healthy, for LeBron James to turn his exhilarating play into victories, and for the Atlanta Hawks to reach their potential.

I know the Hawks have all the tools, if they summon their concentration, to lose a game by 100 points. It really is inevitable. So let's take a quick trip through the highlights and lowlights of the first half . . .

Half-season MVP: Nope, not Kevin Garnett. For me, it's Peja Stojakovic, who has carried Sacramento without Webber.

You almost never see pure jump shooters as elite go-to-guys, but Stojakovic is a Larry Bird exception -- moves well, shoots quickly, and has developed a mean streak.

gotta give some love to jermaine for mvp, even though they play in the ultra-weak east, their record against western conf. teams is pretty decent, with a pair of wins over minnesota, wins over houston and san antonio, pacers are playin great ball, and without jermaine, they'd prolly be at the bottom of the pack

Here is how i see it.

Half-season MVP: I agree with the choice of Peja Stojakovic. He is undoubtable the best shooting forward this year. Last year was Dirk.

Missing in action: Chris Webber. How much better do you think the Kings would be if they had CWeb in the lineup? It must be killing him inside to watch his team play great ball and with him not being apart of it.

Wobbliest very good team: Dallas is a good choice. They have a very offensive minded team that can get the job done. But all i see if offense.

Biggest overachiever: Shawn Kemp. Must be nice to be making 14 million to do nothing at all.

See you later: Atlanta Hawks. Time to throw in the towel and start from stratch. When your top 2 players don't even want to be part of the club, you know something is terribly going wrong.

Players on the rise: Al Harrington. He is the 6th man, but for how long? Carlos Boozer is also gaining confidence and is playing tremendous basketball carrying his Cavaliers to wins without James.

I don't think Shawn Kemp is an overachiever, underachiever would be more like it.
Peja is definitely MVP worthy, he's stepped up big time in C-Webb's absence.

Doesn't "overachiever" usually mean someone who gets more done than what is expected out of them. Hence, they over-achieve i.e. Brian Cardinal

Well if that is the case, I know he's a great player at all, and undoubtly the best sixth man. But how about giving a hand and some props to Earl Boykins! A man of small stature but big heart, look at his size and how he contends with the big men. It's so amazing the way he handles them.

The Pacers should just play JO at centre and Harrington at power forward. I like Jeff Foster but he is not starter material.
