Recently, we've seen some women get into men's sports. There was Annika Sorenstam who played in the PGA last year. Even more recent was 14 year old Michelle Wie shooting an impressive -2 on a mens tournament. There are the silver bullets in baseball, and I have have actually met some girls who actually played highschool football (and not just kicker either). anyways, in all these events, there is one common question raised so I'll ask it in NBA terms...IF they were ever to be a woman (or women) who were good enough and physically able to play in the NBA, should they be allowed? Or is it a "mens" league, and a seperate "womens" league...i.e. NBA and WNBA....if you feel women should be allowed to play in the NBA, can one argue that men should be able to play in the WNBA too? I honestly see both sides to this...I really don't have a concrete opinion....what do you guys think?
it's a mens league. if they have to , they can change it to the MNBA, they specifically made the WNBA so women had a place to play basketball after college. i don't want to watch women in a men's league. they're not up to par. (i hate golf btw). i watch sports because it's manly, fun, competitive, greatest thing on earth. it's a time to seperate yourself from the women.
I hate to sound sexist, but Okaforever is right. Sports have been segregated for years, and the only barriers knocked down have been in one direction. So what if some super-tough women can play in a men's league and hold their own? I'm not saying that they can't. But if they do, then some wimpy men(or not so wimpy) should be allowed to go into women's sports, and I'll bet a lot of them would dominate. Bottomline: If men can't go into women's sports leagues, then women shouldn't be allowed to go into men's sports leagues. Its just not fair, and since women have been shouting 'equality' to get their own leagues, men should be able to shout the same thing to keep them in those leagues.

I just don't think a woman's body could stand up to the pounding they would take in the NBA. Could you see Rebecca Lobo going up against Shaq every night? I'm not trying to be sexist either but women just can't physically hang(well most women anyway)with guys....plus I'm like you guys..I just dont wanna see it.
what if ron artest did to a woman what he did to paul pierce. then i'd be slightly more excited.. but i just dont see it happening.
rebecca lobo, hahahaha! she was awesome. i met her at the store once buying towels. (she's retired, btw). if anything, she could use 6 fouls.. using shaq isn't a great comparison cause the men in the league can't guard him either so..
I didn't agree w/Annika playing in the PGA and I wouldn't agree w/a woman playing in the NBA or any other males only league/sport

I agree tho'..she was really good in college.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting okaforever:</div><div class="quote_post">why would men want to go down to the womens league.. a weaker level?</div>it's the principal of the issue. maybe when a guy is getting old or not able to play at the level needed to succeed at the mens level he'd opt for the womens level that way he can still play and possibly be successful but without having to put out as much effort and energy while doing so.
yeah.. but my principle is why would you want to stoop so low?.. womens sports are horrible. the ONLY thing worth watching is uconn vs. tenn womens basketball games. no matter who is on their respective rosters. that's all i watch... well that and more of the uconn women cause im obsessed with uconn basketball and diana taurasi.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting okaforever:</div><div class="quote_post">it's a mens league. if they have to , they can change it to the MNBA... </div> Haha! I agreeeee! The NBA just wouldn't be the NBA anymore, if women were in it. I just can't imagine what that would be like... Although... that girl... whatever her name was... Karl Malone's daughter?... she looks pretty manly... J/k~
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting okaforever:</div><div class="quote_post">yeah.. but my principle is why would you want to stoop so low?.. </div>Man, I hope the women here aren't too sensitive. I'm not disagreeing with you though.
Why would lower level men players play in a women's league? Because it would pay dinero. No other reason. Keep the two separate.
I hate to sound somewhat pessimistic, negative, bias or sexist. But I take into account what Sir Charles said about the women in that golf tourney. Why put people where they don't belong, against people not that don't deserve to play against but shouldn't play. It's like putting someone as strong as say Chris Webber against Sue Bird. Hence, meaning it is wrong, illogical and just plain shouldn't be done, carried out or practiced.
It isn't sexist to say that women don't belong in the NBA. It's obvious, it's a fact. The play is too rough, and things would get too messy...It's just a bad idea. Having two leagues is perfect.
well sue bird vs. c-web.. i'd take sue bird.. only thing she probably can't do better is rebound and block shots. but that's the uconn bias in me also so.
Any femlae opinions on this? How many females are on this site anyways.... In my opinion, I don't really see this ever being an issue in basketball. I hate to say it but like most of you guys, I highly doubt there will ever be a woman who can compete at the NBA level...with that said, I do think certain sports such as golf and tennis, women should be allowed to compete against men if they are good enough. BUT i don't think the PGA or the WTA (?) should be forced to allow women. It should be up to the people who run the show. Tennis and golf are often played on private courses/courts and the people who run them have a right to make it all-male if they choose. btw, if there ever was a woman who was like 7'5'' and could bench 500 lbs, I'd give her a shot in the league...
I'm a female and to be honest I have no interest at all in the WNBA or women's college bball. I could never watch that.
