I know I will take heat for this next statement, but it is how I feel: The WNBA should be torn up, burned, and have its ashes flushed down the toilet. Are you aware of the fact that they have to pay people to fill seats at the WNBA ASG? Unacceptable. If you can't get customers to pay to see the elite memebers of your league, then there is a serious problem. I won't even bring up the lesbian stereotype because it is irrelevant, but really, what is their target audience? The is a difference between equality and stupidity.

Juwanna Man, anyone? But I must agree, not only do women not belong in the NBA, but it would be downright inappropriate for a women to play in the NBA. A lot of people don't really think of basketball as a contact sport, but it is, especially at the higher levels. Even if women were allowed in the NBA, there would not be a general manager on this earth who would ever even think about signing a women to their team. There is a large difference between a women playing golf in the PGA and a women playing in the NBA or NFL. Many moves in the NBA that are considered good defensive, but if you throw a women into that same situation with a male player, it can and would be considered sexual. What happens if one of the male players accidentally puts his hand on a womens breast that he is defending and the women cries about being groped? NBA players already have enough legal problems, this is the LAST thing they need. Can you imagine the look on Kobe's face when he walked into the morning shootaround before a game later that night to find out he would be guarding a women? The players would go on strike before they allowed a women in the NBA. The only and I mean ONLY type of women that would be able to compete on an equal level in the NBA would be one of those huge man-looking beast lumberjack lesbian stereotypes. 99% of the women in the WNBA aren't even good enough to play for the Atlanta Hawks.
The WNBA will not be around much longer, period. The only chances it has of sticking around is if they get some Wilt, MJ, LeBron type female that changes the game and makes everyone want to watch. Either that or an Anna Kournikova type comes by that they allow to wear a bikini while playing.
womens basketball is not getting any better. sorry to whomever said that. i want to watch it even LESS now. (wnba).
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Accord:</div><div class="quote_post">huge man-looking beast lumberjack lesbian</div> Sorry, but Yeah, technically I don't really even see this arising as an issue. The only woman ever signed by an NBA team(yes, there was one) was current Seattle Storm coach Anne Donovan, who towers over most women at 6'8". And at the time, the late 70's I believe, that was taller than most men in the league as well. And even women who are abnormally tall by bball standards just don't have the build to match the height. Someone mentioned Cheryl Ford, Malone's daughter, who is the preeminent banger in the WNBA. And she is, build-wise. But she's also 6'3", which hardly cuts it for a point guard.
being a woman on the site i have a different view on things. I feel if they are good enough to play against the men then why not! You guys and a lot of other people don't want to see it cuz its not the "norm". It would take the guys who play out of their comfort zone. Society gets used to seeing certain things one way and they dont like t o change. I think its great that women are competing in the PGA. The men dont like it cuz they are doing better than them. If she played and came in dead last it wouldnt be a problem. Guys dont like to get beat by women. I have dealt with this stuff my whole life...u know going to the basketball courts and being the only woman there...guys looking at you like you are crazy for asking who had next game! then no one wants to gaurd ya....im 6'1....got some guy who is 5'5 guarding me...just cuz they dont think cuz your a woman u cant play. I think yeah if a woman is good enough to play in the NBA then why not! It is a sexist world out there!
it has nothing to do with the norm. if we wanted to watch the women play, we would support the wnba. that is all. it'd be pathetic. they wouldn't be able to guard anybody, not even jake voskuhl. the pga is a whole nother story. i dont even consider golf a sport to begin with. the only defense is mother nature, no sweat, no blood, no tears, no teams, no jerseys, nothing. thats a BIG IF. cause women are not capable of being in the nba! the best female player in the world isn't better than the worst nba player! it has nothing to do with being SEXIST. women are too emotional to be in the nba. all those feminine problems they go through. menopause, periods, all that ****. you can't bring that on the freaking court! <font color="Red">Dude! Cut the double posting! NOW. - KJ</font>

My cousin whos decent at basketball, but not great. managed to beat a not long retired *something like 2 years*WNBA player, a good one too, at basketball really badly, even if they were in great physical condition and at the top of their game, they couldnt seriously compete in the NBA, the best WNBA player would be at most the 6th woman on the hawks.
I agree with what somone else said...How can a guy guard a women..?, Like he cant smother her like he would a guy because if he touched her, It would look to the audience as sexual...I dont see why women cant play in the PGA, Its not a team sport..theres no touching etc etc..But i would NOT want any women in the lague..It would take away the physicalness of it....It would make it stupid..I sure know a player wouldnt want a criminal record for accidentally falling on top of a woman etc etc, It would just ruin the game!
I would venture to say there is no woman that can play SF, PF or C in the NBA. That leaves the point and the 2. Some people would say that if Boykins, Claxton, T.J. Ford and Watson can play in the NBA with their height/size limitations, then there has to be a handful of females out there that could compete. Stop right there. Don't say nothing more.
Lisa Leslie would kill Andrew Declerq, so that statement about best WNBA not beating the best NBA isn't true.
lmao yeah she will kill andrew anytime..anyways about what KJ said a hot chix..yeah they could do that make em play with tight azz clothes..and get some hot chix..ill watch that...
If she is good enough to play in the League then why not? I don't see a reason why a woman can't be part of the NBA if she has the skills. I don't think its gonna happen anytime soon, I mean, international players are just making their way in...women in the League might take a awhile so don't hold your breath. But in the end, if she has the skills to hang in the NBA then why not? The NBA should always find the best talent available and if its a woman then so be it. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting sportsrock37:</div><div class="quote_post">Lisa Leslie would kill Andrew Declerq, so that statement about best WNBA not beating the best NBA isn't true.</div> I don't even believe that, Declerq would break her bones
if a girl comes along that can shoot .600 from the field, she's getting in. if she's from croatia, mark cuban will sign her. but seriously, not long ago ppl said that women couldn't play golf in the pga. then annika sorestam proved she could hang. michelle vie will probably not only hang, but beat most guys as well. so i wouldn't be so sure. women are getting more athletic, just check how the gap between women's and men's records in field and track or swimming events is closing. and for those who said that women's sports are not exciting to watch, one word: tennis. what, you'll rather watch a fat agassi instead of serena williams?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting cubanballer:</div><div class="quote_post">but seriously, not long ago ppl said that women couldn't play golf in the pga. then annika sorestam proved she could hang.</div> Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't Annika Sorenstam finish in something like 87th place, lol. She's one of the best female golfers in the world, but isn't even good enough to make it into the top 50 male golfers just in that one tournament. Fact of the matter is most men in the PGA can hit the ball harder and longer than even the best women golfers.
the best argument is probably the "how can a man guard a woman" argument. A woman may be good enough to play in the NBA, but there are issues other then sexism or "no woman is good enough" that make having females in the NBA impossible.
