<div class="quote_poster">Quoting femalehooper:</div><div class="quote_post">no one is throwing a fit about it.....topic was should women be able to play in the nba...my point was IF they are good enough why not!</div> Well, IF she was good enough, then she'd obviously be the best player in women's bball. And if the best player in women's bball won't even play in the top women's league, what kind of message would that send to the fans of the league? Not very good ones. I myself am a fan of women's bball, but I wouldn't like it if players were just dismissing it as being a lower league, or a joke. And if the top player won't even play, it tarnishes the rep. It'd be sorta like if MJ had decided after 2 or 3 seasons that he would keep playing, but only in the olympics, and that he'd never ball in the league again. There would always be an asterisk next to the league. So I'll step up and say that, even if there was a woman, or a couple women, who were able to play in the league, I don't think that they should be allowed to. Other reasons: I might not have a problem playing against women, but I bet there are some guys who do. And you know how the only female referee has taken some crap from fans? The same would undoubtedly happen to the female ballers, from fans and fellow players alike. Also, this isn't like the PGA. Annika Sorenstam didn't dominate men to get where she is, and she only played up for a couple tournaments, while still being a member of the LPGA. She even admitted that she wasn't trying to break ground by playing with men, she was just doing it to see how far down she'd be, since she knew she would be that far. And she used her sponsor contacts to get into the tourneys. That is a fact. I'm not knocking her as a player, this is what she herself said. In bball, you can't get into the league based on sponsor's deals. So presumably, if the woman was good enough, she really would be good enough. But she would recieve heat for every off performance that she turned in, which Sorenstam didn't get. She wasn't expected to do well, whereas a female baller would be. As for PGA, lets not even get into Michelle Wie. She's not even one of the top 50 women golfers, let alone a real comparison to male golfers. She gets her press because she's young and because she's a beast, but she's not even comparable to Annika yet.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Fishball:</div><div class="quote_post">I just think your assessment was made because you're pissed that guys here sounded as if we dissed the women although we have numerously insisted we're not like that. But, that's fine we can let all the W players come into the NBA, skill wise they could hold their own against guys, even beat some of them, but physical wise? My picture of women playing in the L is this, HONESTLY: First, they would get outmatched, outrun, outjumped, out-poisitioned, and out-boxed, out-trashtalked, and even out-smiled... here and there in between they would get some open shots and lay-ups but often they couldn't even dribble because the bruce bowens or the ron artests are guarding them with those long arms and they start to pass the ball as soon as they get it, the coach's patience is wearing thin and he starts to bench them from starters to the 6th men... even being the six man is no safe position since 5 other bench guys also want that position... they start to slid and slid and slid until they're eventually waived and back to the WNBA again. But I wouldn't say I'm sexist since I don't believe I could put more than 2 ppg in WNBA (and I can at least dribble and shoot)... they play pretty physical out there, but not enough to play in the NBA.</div> Who says women would get out jumped, out-trashtalked and outsmiled? There's a lot of females who got more hops than men and there's a lot of women who can talk more trash than a man. Who gives a damn about being outsmiled? It's about what they can do on the court. I think the problem with these males posting on this thread is that when they're imagining women playing in the NBA, they're thinking of some frail, fragile women. If a woman knew she was coming into the NBA, of course she would start building some muscle. The best and only argument there is is the issue of a man guarding a woman. I've seen people sayin that if women should be able to play in the NBA, then men should be able to play in the WNBA. Well, if both genders were playing in the same league, then there wouldn't even be two seperate leagues. No, a woman shouldn't be able to play in the NBA, because of the whole man guarding a woman thing. Not because a man got more game than a woman.

I was thinking strong-like-ox guys like BIG BEN, SHAQ O'Neal, EBrand42, Ron Ron, and strong Earl Boykins. Now, women superstars vs. men superstars? It's going to sound sexist again here, but again I insist I am not a sexist and I have no intention to be sexist in the first place, but my answer remains the same: they may win in terms of skill or talent, but they will never win in terms of physical ability. I remind you it is NOT "stud women beat dud men on basketball court"... it should be "stud women beat stud men on basketball court" If your argument is referring to the former, then what's the point? You could pick ANY WNBA player and get ME to play one-on-one with her and she'll beat me 0-11... loser's possession. If there is a 6-8 version of dunking-machine Candace Parker someday and she just basically outplays the NBA's best guys physically and mentally, I will have no problem really, in fact, I could be her fan and I would consider buying her signature shoes. God created men and women to be different, each has their own goods and bads, men are more gifted physically, while women are more gifted intellectually. But each gender also has a chance to be at the same level of the other gender's goods, given they work hard at it, but SHOULD never surpass their goods. If this aforementioned female player really shows up in the future and just kills all NBA stars...... what can I say? she'll break God's rules.
Man I just wanna see a female do a reverse dunk. I've never seen a female even do that. Damn! But yeah, if somehow a female was as good as the worst player in the league, she deserves a shot. But I don't think the best player in the WNBA beat any And 1 player, and only Skip made it. So until a girl can play exactly as good as any ball player, it's not gonna happen. Oh the female guards probaly would have the best chance.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 30 standing ver:</div><div class="quote_post">Man I just wanna see a female do a reverse dunk. </div> I don't know if cheryl miller or any other W legends has dunked, but the closest to a reverse dunk was michelle snow when she was still in college... but it was no reverse, it was pretty ill dunk! Future legend Lisa Leslie remains the only W player in its history to have ever dunked in a game, one-handed dunk, two-page spread SLAMADAMONTH (issue#??) and very funny piece by russ bengston on the article. I haven't seen candace parker dunk but SLAM (my reliable source) says that she's a dunking machine... I'm anxious to see her play, maybe she could do this!
How tall is she? I've seen some women dunk contest, and so for the best I've was a lil oop, but let the ball hit the ground grab while on the ground and dunk it. Wow! And why can't that 7'2 lady dunk. damn, her reach is longer than Yao Ming. She's pretty weak though, and that 7'7 lady I seen on Jerry Springer. Well the fact she was on Jerry Springer say's it all. But on the real, she was handicaped because of her size, so yeah.
candace? she's about 6-3, just read this article: http://www.gballmag.com/cc-parkerdunks.html and some articles and pic of her soarin to the hoop: http://espn.go.com/magazine/vol5no26nextgallery.html wow, i'ven't seen woman do alley oops before that's gotta be cool to watch!!! and i haven't seen or heard a 7-2 woman in my life, nor in the history book, let alone that 7-7 girl... man, I always miss Jerry's best episodes!

Big Nasty should be banned for posting that pic...., bleh... first of all, you cant compare woman playing ion Golf, to Woman playing Basketball. Golf is not a team sport. It is not physical. It is more of a leisurely sport with no contact iwth other individuals, so in some repsects there should be a co-ed golf association. Basketball, however, is muhc different, IT is a team sport, witrh your blood pumiping and it is very, very physical. The most a woman has gotten into such a physical sport with a mna recently(hockey heads help me) is that Canadian female hockey player who played in Europe. But then again, In hockey there aint postups or really any defence that could be conceived as being sexual. Personally, for no watlesat, there is no point in the NBA being Co-ed. There are endless reasons that im sure alot of you people can think of. Ofcourse, there is the issue of the defence, but is also the skill factor. It is not that women are not up to the caliberr of these NBA players, there is enough women who are up to par with the Forwards, or 'Gods' of todays NBA. Face it, the majority of women are not as deidcated to sports(mainly playing) as men are. The women would(if they could) play for the NBA would be vastly outnumbered and there would not be enough of them to o continue their existence on teams. ....I'll continue later...
