People thought Bill and Wilt were the best. Then came Kareem, Julius...Then Larry and Magic...Then you had MJ...then Kobe....now LeBron.... These records will be broken...The NBA will be around for more years to come (i hope) and more players would come...I think someone will average a triple double right now or the next. LeBron does have the potential to do this, when he gains more experience. The 100s pts in one game...seems impossible...unless you have like 10 overtimes which is unlikely...Who knows? what if this huge player comes in town...and just dominates the paint every possession and shoots lights out form behind the arc, then I would think the 100 point record can be tied...or even broken.
well,I stand by my assessment...I think Wilt's 23,000+ rebounds for career will stay alot longer than any other record. No one thats active is even remotely close to him..the closest one is Karl Malone with 14,800 or so..Shaq should have been like Wilt...20+ boards a game, but for whatever reason he didn't........I think its an untouchable record
For the first one, it's unpredictable, maybe T-Mac might reach 100 if he's in one of his crazy nights .. but still, 100 are so many points to score ! for the second one, I think KG or Kidd will average a triple-double in the next 3 years probably.. oh and by the way, how can you put LeBron before Garnett in ability of averaging a triple double ?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Big Nasty:</div><div class="quote_post">well,I stand by my assessment...I think Wilt's 23,000+ rebounds for career will stay alot longer than any other record. On open plays (unguarded), they love to bounce the ball off the boards a couple of times before slamming it home. So, in one open possession he could get like 2 points and 3-4 offensive rebounds. But I am not very sure of this... I just heard it somewhere.. :biggrin2:

and if you remember HE DID NOT GET THE REBOUND because you can't intentionally shoot at your own basket. so that story about wilt and bill russell cheating is suspect.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting cubanballer:</div><div class="quote_post">and if you remember HE DID NOT GET THE REBOUND because you can't intentionally shoot at your own basket. so that story about wilt and bill russell cheating is suspect.</div> If they did that, wouldnt their field goal percentage have been about 30% each game? lets say, 3-5 missed shots or more for every 1 made, just to build rebound stats? Their field goal percentage would have been HORRIBLE.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Air Canada:</div><div class="quote_post">oh and by the way, how can you put LeBron before Garnett in ability of averaging a triple double ?</div> for the simple reason that lebron plays the point, and garnett plays the 3 or 4. lebron is in a better position to rack up dimes. and anyway, garnett is on the threshold of his prime, and his numbers are good, but his assists are nowhere near what he needs to average a triple-double. i think he's getting like 5, 6 a game? again, this is because he plays the forward positions. not as many opportunities to rack up dimes.
Anyone who thinks that a single player today can break the 100 pt mark is quite delusional. Whole teams today struggle to reach 100, and players rarely break the 40 pt. mark. That being said, I don't think that either mark will be broken, or even reached, for quite some time. I won't say ever, because the style of the league could change. But it just isn't likely due to the immensity of these records.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting starman85:</div><div class="quote_post">Man, anyoine sho says that someone could reach 100 is freakin crazy! CRAZY! you got me? I'm not even gonna be nice, cuz youi're jhust being all out-of-this-worled like, ya know? You don't know what you're talking about it you think that someone could either score 100 points or average a triple double. You have teams struggling to reach 100 p0oihts as a team, much less 50 on their own. So 100 is out of the questijo. bThe last guy who could do that was michael Jordan, and he's retired now, so get a life and forget about it, and stop dreamin like a dope. And lebron is a cool dude, but he hasn't gotten a single TD, so stop dreamihn about averaging one. I don''t care who you are, but don't talk **** about averainging a TD when you haven't recorded a single one in a game. Alright? Fine. That said, lets just wait awhile, cause nietheir reodrd looks like it'll be broken anytime soon, especially by the donpes trying to reach them.</div> I can see where people think James could do it,I myself think he stands the best chance of any current player. The kid can pass extremely well,he's big enough to bang and get the boards and we know he can score 20ppg....he has the potential to be someone who could do average a trip-dub during the season.
100 points in a game will probably never be touched, let alone threatened. McGrady went off against the Cavs last week and yet he at his pace he would have still been 28 points short of Wilt had he been able to duplicate his first half. If the Lakers gave Shaq the ball everytime down court and let him do his thing, he might be able to get 70. He probably would have the best shot of anyone in the NBA. Its just too hard for guards to do. You aren't going to be able to put up crazy number just by shooting jumpshots all night. Averaging a triple double over a season is a lot more feasible than scoring 100. Lebron may at some time give it a run. He is already hitting 20, 6, and 6 as a rookie on a team that is the best rebounding club in the NBA and that has no outside shooters. If he was surrouded by a Peja/Ray Allen type of player and Boozer shared some of the boards, he could get close. A lot of rebouding numbers will more than likely never be touched. For example, Wilt and Bill Russell both averaged over 22 rebound a game over the course of their career. Also, 14 turnovers in one game would be pretty hard to accomplish. (John Drew '78)
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting redscoon:</div><div class="quote_post">Also, 14 turnovers in one game would be pretty hard to accomplish. (John Drew '78)</div> i think iverson has a good shot at that one, lol.

The difference between that kind of cheating and Ricky Davis is that Ricky missed the other team's goal, whereas some of those other guys missed their own goals, and got offensive rebounds, which isn't against the rules technically. I've heard this too, that he would shoot high, jump on theo ther side and board it, and do the same thing a couple times to rack up rebounds.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Fishball:</div><div class="quote_post">Bill with the more unbreakable record of 55 rebounds in A GAME!):</div> Argh it was Wilt Chamberlain who has the record of 55 rebounds in one game, it was not Russell, it was against Russell

1. Nope. 2. Yep. LeBron will average a triple-double, and has a great shot at it. He already has on of the best all around games in the leauge, and he's a rookie, never played college ball, and only 19 years old. 20 points, 6 board, and 6 assists a game. Do you guys think that over his career, he will never increase his ROOKIE average by 4 assists and 4 rebounds? I defintally see him doing that, and he should be running point in the future also. I mean this guy has so much potential, and isn't even anywhere close to his prime, and is only 4 assists and 4 boards from averaging a Triple-Double already. I think he'll do it.
