Full Story Meanwhile Tayshaun Prince has been named to the Sophomores team for the rookie challenge being played on the friday of that weekend Full Story
This is great, two great players. Actually nice to see someone like Prince get noticed as well as used. Way to go Ben, you're a great team player, it's no wonder you're in this. Hope to see you outboard the big men of the West.
Good for them! That's not such a surprise for Ben, but it's nice that people recognize Tayshaun's accomplishments. I was surprised Memo wasn't named to the sophmore team, he's proved himself worthy this season in my opinion.
Memo should be going to the Rookie-Sophmore game, because he was a first alternate, and since Yao Ming is going to the real All-Star game, I believe Memo will be taking his spot.
C Mehmet Okur is in his second NBA season and is playing well, scoring 21 points in the Jan. 28 victory over the Celtics. The Detroit News reports Okur is upset that he's only a first alternate to play in the rookie-sophomore game during All-Star weekend. His best chance at being selected will be if someone already invited is hurt, or if the Rockets' Yao Ming is selected to play in the main All-Star game, which would open a spot for Okur. From what I've heard, a player cannot play in both games.
NBA.com has stated players who are scheduled to play in the rookie challenge and also get picked for the all-star game will play both events.
