This came up in the other "Biggest Bust Ever" thread, so I thought I'd give it its own topic. What is the worst NFL trade of all time? Some early candidates are: The Herschel Walker Trade to Minnesota for umpteen draft picks Ahman Green for Fred Vinson Ricky Williams for every Saints Draft Pick Any other stinkers out there?
I was going to use Favre as an example, until I saw it was a first round pick that they gave up. It ended up being a pretty crappy trade, sure, but when it was signed it wasn't awful. I guess with hindsight, a lot of trades turn out pretty bad based on players drafted using draft picks acquired in the trade. In a few years, trading Tomlinson for Vick is going to look pretty bad. I really have my doubts that Vick will ever be anywhere near as great as everyone thinks he "should be." Tomlinson on the other hand... Well, his numbers speak for themselves.
What about Indy trading Marshal Faulk to Stl for almost nothing. Granted they did get Edgerrin JAmes the following year, still me thinks they could have spent the 4th pick overall on a great defensive player, and kept Marshal Faulk.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Eagles4Life)</div><div class='quotemain'>Will you be saying that, when he goes to the probowl in 2005?</div> HA! no way he makes it to the probowl. if he ever does, it wont be untill after peyton, green, mcnair, brady retire
Randall Hill to the Cardinals for a #1 that turns out to be #7 overall and becomes Troy Vincent seems pretty boneheaded....The Bucs giving up a #1 for Chandler and the Saints trading a #1 for Steve Walsh wasnt exactly stellar....and the Browns trading a 2nd round pick to move up 1 spot in the 1st round doesnt ring of brilliance....
