<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">According to a source familiar with the dealings, the Heat and Suns stood in discussions last year that would have sent Marbury, guard Penny Hardaway and forward Bo Outlaw from the Suns to the Heat for the expiring contract of since-departed Heat center Alonzo Mourning, as well as the Heat's 2003 lottery pick. Along the way, the Suns also tried to extract forward Caron Butler. During the course of those discussions, with the Suns improving their playoff chances, Phoenix purportedly backed off the move. Had such a deal been made, it would have removed the Heat from this past summer's free-agent market, as well as precluded the chance to draft guard Dwyane Wade with the No. 5 selection. In essence, it would have put Marbury, Hardaway and Outlaw in South Florida at the expense of Wade, Butler and Lamar Odom. That would have left the Heat with a starting lineup along the lines of Brian Grant at center, Outlaw and Hardaway at forward, and Eddie Jones and Marbury at guard. </div> Click here for the rest of the article.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Accord:</div><div class="quote_post">Click here for the rest of the article.</div> yeah i heard about it. If we would have made that trade we would have been without Wade,Caron, and Odom. I am more happy with our roster.
I love Starbury and all, no doubt he's good but losing an awesome defender like Butler? An offensive force like Wade? The versatile Odom? Maybe one player but all three of these good players, that's just insane. Thank goodness it didn't happen.
Who knows, maybe that lineup would've won more games. In the long term though, it'll prove to be a disaster for Miami.
hindsight being what it is, after the way odom and wade are playing, of course not. but i'd be lying if i didn't say that before the season, if asked to pick between marbury and odom, i would have picked marbury in a second. i'm glad things worked out this way though.
Wow... they lucky they didnt do that. They really have something shapping up in miami. I love the Wade-Butler-Odom look.
Thankfully that didn't happen....Starbury is finally happy where he is....and the Knicks are making there turn around :bigthumbu
I'm very very glad that move wasn't pulled off... I mean this team has the potential to be great in the years to come, just a couple trades, and we're ridin' to the east finals in a few years.
