Players are not just rated by how many points they score, who wins a pickup game or who gets the big contracts. I'm the biggest Steve Francis' fan on this site and trust me, I know how good he is or will be down the line.

The reason he is in the ads is he is a very marketable player. That is why you see players like Lebron, Kobe, TMAC, and Vince in commercials over players like Duncan and Kidd. The reason is that they are more marketable then the other players, not that they are better than them. For the record, one on one means jack. Why even mention it?

What does matter is how much you appreciate the player, how well he plays and say god bless him every night, which I do. BTW, I have 2 Francis jerseys, a pair of autographed shoes, a signed poster and a Francis wallpaper. Top that.

<font color="blue"> Both of you cool it. Who really cares who is the bigger fan? Also Franchise73187, just because he is rated higher in live means jack squat.</font>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Franchise73187:</div><div class="quote_post">You still haven't answered the question who will win Francis 15-10</div> I would take Baron personally, but that is just me. I like to take the size in one-on-one usually and Baron has around 25-30 pounds on Steve. Once again, one on one means nothing. Its all about 5 on 5 play.

Right now he is having a better year in stats but he is not a better player.
I wouldn't want to answer that. These two are friends and even if they play one-on-one, they won't play for the win, more likely for fun.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Franchise73187:</div><div class="quote_post">Right now he is having a better year in stats but he is not a better player.</div> I never said he was a better player than Francis. I said he was a better one-on-one player since you asked me it. There is a huge difference between one one one and 5 on 5.

Pop quiz Does Starbary like Francis as friends.

Who cares who would win one on one? Uh I think Stockton would lose like 21-2 to both Francis and Davis, or even Earl Boykins. What did he ever do? What does a PG do? Win one on one games? No, he makes the other 4 players on the floor better. Davis gets the message now. Francis and Mobley? They still think they are in the NCAA and that big players only rebound and kick it out for the guards to shoot. One day around 2 -3 years from now, they will be in Atlanta or Clipperland watching Yao win the Finals and wonder why they were not there also since they are averaging 20 ppg now.

They are scorers not passers. I mean you got a big 7'6 guy who can shoot over people with accuracy and in some cases, back down for easy shots if he can get low enough in the post. What was he 7 of 10? Keep feeding him! And if he's double teamed create for him or hit someone else in the paint. Try driving!
I really don't know what is going on with this Houston team. They are reluctant to do more on offense and the backcourt has really got to realize that they are not the focal point on offense anymore. Yao getting just 11 shots per game is just not going to cut it. I'd say that the ideal statistic for the team is Yao at 9-15, Francis at 5-11, and Mobley at 4-8. Yao'd get more touches and more makes and it also gives players like Jim Jackson and Mo Taylor to fluctuate on offense.
I think Taylor and Jackson also needlessly take touches and shots from Yao, more so Taylor. Neither one's going to do something stupid in crunch time, but for the other three quarters I see them iso'ing too much while Yao's establishing position in the post. I know neither one hurts Yao's production as much as Francis and Mobley, but still, I cringe when I watch them trying to back down their man when Yao's right there already in good scoring position.
I cringe, pee and crap in my pants all at the same time whenever Mobley touches the ball. Seriously. His decision making with the ball is worse than a rugby player trying to play basketball. I think if we have a "which player has the worst decision making ability" contest, Mobley would win hands down.
At this point I feel I must reiterate my previous post about Taylor: Tonight Yao got the most shots on the team: 16. He made 10 of them--nice. Mobley, Francis, and Jackson jacked up a combined 5 3pt attempts--also nice. But then you look at Maurice Taylor. Damnit Maurice. 4 turnovers, no assists (not startling), and 14 shots (I didn't see the game but from what I've seen in the past I can probably deduce in what ways he was trying to get those shots), making 3 of them--not nice at all. Van Gundy's got more mindsets to correct than just Cat and Stevie.
We need mobley, he is probably the only one on the team that is able to defened other all star players like kobe or tmac.
