<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ming637:</div><div class="quote_post">Everyone is not an all-around player on the Spurs. Manu on PG? What kind of line-up is this? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Dom_Sensei:</div><div class="quote_post">I just hate that team, which is an insult to the beauty of the game. Duncan is one of NBA's best, but his style is awful... Bowen can't score, Parker is not a real floor leader, Nesterovic may never be consitent... My line-up may not be the most effective but certainly the most exciting. NBA basketball should be all about excitement, and not slow offense with systematic inside plays. Anyway, they won't be champs this year, so why not trying to please people with a high scoring line-up? I assume you all prefer the current one than mine, but it was just an idea to make me love that team...</div> You need to burn for that comment - you just proved to the entire forum that you have no kind of knowledge of NBA basketball, whatsoever, other than "hey, that's cool." Bowen can score if he really felt he needed to, but the fact is that he doesn't need to drop more than 10 a game for the Spurs to be successful. He can shoot, but his game is primarily shutting down smaller offensive powerhouses, and setting screens to make plays. He's a role player. Parker may not have yet developed into a "floor leader," but he's doing a damn good job at pacing the Spurs' offense with a leader like Duncan on the floor. Nesterovic is always a defensive presence, as well. He's consistent on that end of the floor, because he's been pulled anywhere from 2 to 6 blocks a night, against anybody, and pulling down almost 10 boards a game. He can score when given the opportunity, but his scoring isn't really needed too much. And who are you to say they won't be champs this year? No one thought they would be last year until they killed the Lakers in the postseason. To say they don't have a chance is obsurd, when they're still second in the Midwest division, maintaining a record most teams would love to have, and centering themselves around the efficient centerpiece of Tim Duncan. And Duncan is the NBA's best because he's got the best style. He's not called the Big Fundamental for nothing, and he didn't win two MVPs for kicks. His postup game is unsurpassed, and he's consistency night in and night out, carrying this San Antonio team to 60 win seasons on 20/10 performances is simply unparallelled. He's got the best footwork out there for a big man, possibly ever. His only flaw is obviously his free throws. Just to make a suggestion to you. Don't ever get into a Spurs argument with ME.
Not much to say other than that. I agree with the others, the lineup is horrible. The reason that teams like the Pacers, Spurs, and Pistons are great teams is because of their defense and execution. You take that away for what you believe to be "exitement" and suddenly they become a horrible team. The Spurs are not bad right now, they just need to work out a few small problems and they will be fine. Every team goes through some bad moments.
San Antonio had the ugliest champion team ever... Duncan is increadibly good but he is too old-fashion style for my eyes. Sorry, but skyhooks without jumping belonged to the last century and I prefer the style of inside players such as Sheed, Gasol or Jermaine O'neal. I agree that Duncan is well above this bunch of players but his style is just too ugly. "you just proved to the entire forum that you have no kind of knowledge of NBA basketball, whatsoever, other than "hey, that's cool."" The fact the spurs are your favorite team proves that you don't know anything about NBA basketball. I advise you to watch Euro-league, it's even ugliest than your favorite team. And last but not least, "hey, that's cool."
You must be no older than 10? Who cares if a team is exciting or not, wins and winning championships is what matters, which is what the Spurs have done.Fans in San Antonio could care less what style of ball the Spurs play as long as the results are good enough, which they have been over the years. My advice to you Go watch streetball and never watch the NBA ever again.
"You must be no older than 10? " Indeed I'm 3. Who is the kid and can't bear the critics of his favourite team? I known this team is very good, but I also see San Antonio play Ugly Basket Ball. As a fan, I prefer a team that plays like the Suns -Barkley version against the Bulls- did, even if the results was a bunch of loosers, rather that an automatized team like the spurs.

It's not all about dunks or great moves, I speak of the pace of the game which is horribly slow with san antonio. The classic schemes: Parker gives to duncan, who tries toscore or to give to an outside teamate that shoots or give inside again. And that lasts 48min... "hey, that's cool."
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 3-pt.-gunner:</div><div class="quote_post">yeah, i'd have to agree that what this guy put together is possibly the worst lineup i've ever seen. there is no way mercer should be starting and ginobili should definitely play sg. you've got to keep parker at the point. in fact, i like all 3 of the guys you put on the bench to start.</div> I wouldn't change one thing in the lineup either, and I think what he suggested was just as a real dumb proposal, but how the hell is it the worst lineup you've ever seen? Hedu was actually looked at to be a good player in the future for the Kings, and he still shows flashes that he can be real good. He's also been a consistent player off the bench. Mercer, although I do agree isn't a very good player, still can score the ball. I don't care how many minutes you play, he wasn't as big of a hog as everyone says, and as long as he's not the main guy he can be a good player for a team. Manu running the point, that is a horrible suggestion, but Rose as a starter and Rasho off the bench isn't as bad as it sounds. Rose has been a very important player for this team for years, and Rasho coming off the bench to back him and Tim is almost the same as what they do now. All that is different is who is starting, the rotation is the same. Again, that is a dumb suggestion, but it isn't the worst lineup.
Are you kidding me? I don't see how you continue to argue after getting owned multiple times in a row. I can take criticism to my team all day, and I criticize them myself. However, what you're saying is just completely obsurd. It's obvious you like more athleticism being displayed, huh? Duncan isn't the most agile of the big men out there, but he's good at what he does and always has been. He doesn't need to rely on his jumping abilities like so many other power forwards these days do. And why would I watch the European leagues when I have the NBA? Besides, I can't get that over here if I wanted to. Just face it. You're not showing any signs of intelligence, and you suggestions have been shot to all hell.
Seriously, Crossover, you have to stop! You are hurting his feelings! Actually, I can see where Dom's point is coming from, I sometimes do find the Spurs' precision to be brutally painful to watch. It just depends on my mood, if I want to see some high scoring then I'll watch the Kings. If I want to see a nice defensive gameplan with an offense that is very well executed and precise then I watch the Pistons or Spurs.

But that style is winning them games....okay, NOT only winning games but winning CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you have a problem with that then don't watch the games, but you are saying that you would rather have the team be exciting and lose games then be boring and win championships? I'll take the championships everytime. People don't remember losers, they remember winners
I don't see why so many people are hating on the Spurs. They are a great team. They play pure basketball. The words "make do with what you got and it gets the job done" comes to mind. They win games with great defense, they lockdown, they contain. They're like one big wall of a team. Effort, skill and strength. No flair or flash but hey they've won two championships with it already, so I don't really see anything wrong with it.
