Seeing as though it is basically the halfway mark of Season 2003/04, i was just wondering who everyone thinks will contest the championship series? My pick would be Sac-town v.s. Indiana. Just seem to be the two teams who come to play against the better teams when it counts. ~Nick~
My pick would be Los Angeles Lakers vs Indiana Pacers rewind all over to the 1999-2000 Finals... This may be biased but Lakers in four!
Its going to be the wolves or the kings vs Indiana or Detroit.I don't think the Lakers will get to the finals because they are always getting injured. They might get injured again in the playoffs.
It'll be fun to watch the T-Wolves, Sacremento, and Spurs fight for the Western Conference finals. I would say Sacremento vs. Indiana.
No championship in la la land this year!!!!!! sorry y'all but the Lakers have a long way to go, especially if they don't get everyone to make up and play nice , but they do got the majority of these cats under contract for next year . Anyway, about this year. I can't imagine anyone but the Pistons and the pacers in the east but I could be wrong ( that seems to be happening alot lately? ). In the west it's tougher but probably the Suns , just kidding, the king and wolves are looking good and both have reinforcements on the way. Anyway if it plays out like that It'll probably be the Kings and Pacers with Sac-town finally getting theirs .
Kings vs Pacers The Kings are the best team in the NBA w/o Webber... LA has been very unimpressive. If Webber comes back and HURTS the Kings chemistry and the Lakers turn it on playoff time, then it'll be... Minnesota
the pacers are incredible this year and will come out of the east but the west is a toss up between sacramento, minnesota, la lakers, and maybe dallas. in the west, i like minnesota the best, but sacramento looks the best and you just can't count out the lakers
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Aaron:</div><div class="quote_post">I gotta say my boys the wolves vs. the suprise choice out east Indiana.</div> "surprise choice?!" you've got to be kidding me. indiana has the best record in the nba and you might say that their win tonight against la was because of injuries and shaq's suspension but the pacers were playing without jo and could compete with them at full strength on any given night.
The Lakers vs The Pistons is what im rooting for. But im pretty sure its going to end up The Kings vs The Pacers.
In the West I'm going to take the Lakers. It's just a matter of time before they get healthy and back to winning. They were dominant in the beginning of the year with their true starting 5 on the court and had most games won after 3 quarters. My only concern is how they will be seeded come playoff time. They are in danger of dropping to the 6th seed and have not played well on the road. I'd like to see them get a top 4 seed, but it's going to be tough making up those 5 games to grab the Pacific Division. Sacramento is playing great basketball and will only get better with C-Webb back. In the East I'm going to make a surprise pick and go with the Knicks. Indiana and Detroit are playing the best ball, but I like how the Knicks have been playing and I think Marbury can carry this team deep into the playoffs. The East will be wide open, and the Knicks have the size and toughness most teams in the East lack. Their ability to shut down teams is effective come playoff time, along with 3 solid scoring options in Marbury, Penny, and Houston. They will be able to wear teams down in a 7 game series and will be tough to beat at the Garden.
if anyone can beat the pacers in the east, i'd say it would have to be the knicks. with isiah's great mid-season shakeup, the team is extremely talented and starting to play together a little bit. first they'll have to actually make the playoffs though. if the playoffs started today, they'd come in as the 8th seed, 1/2 a game ahead of miami. that's pretty shaky ground. they've done better since the trade though and i can see them easily taking the 4th or 5th seed in the lackluster eastern conference. while i'm talking about talent, is anybody else impressed by the t-wolves this year. those boys have rallied around garnett and his new and much improved supporting cast to put together a few good win streaks and a great record. i also like sacramento who has played like a contender without webber. it makes me wonder if webber was holding that team back or if they'll do even better when he comes back.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Mr_Infante:</div><div class="quote_post">If the Knicks make a trade, they would be my pick also.</div> how many trades do they have to make? the trade with the suns wasn't enough for you? ny needs to stick with the team they have.
As a Laker fan i hope and also think when the Lakers get their players back in da game they will win it all in 5. Sac town is good but Lakers will win it anyway. Also think as almost everyone around here against the Pacers. Pacers have it pretty easy in the East and will win it but against the Lakers in the Finals wont happen. Didn't happen in 2000 and will not happen in 2004.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 3-pt.-gunner:</div><div class="quote_post">how many trades do they have to make? the trade with the suns wasn't enough for you? ny needs to stick with the team they have.</div> Not really, They need more toughness. Sure they are talented the way they are. But I just don't think it's enough. If you think their current roster can beat a hot Indiana team in the playoffs your nuts. Indiana has hammered The Knicks in playoffs year after year. It wouldn't change this year. Edit: Your a Pacer fan, you should know.

The Knicks of old was the team the Pacers beat in the playoffs year after year. The current Knicks have better players than Charlie Ward, John Starks, and Patrick Ewing. Marbury is a tough point guard and he has the ability to lead his talented team to a lot of victories with Penny Hardaway, Houston, and Van Horn. Kurt Thomas has plenty of toughness and if Mutombo can play like he did a decade ago, they should be in pretty good shape.
The Finals are going to suck; what won't, however, is the Western Conference semi-finals and finals. To have the Lakers, Mavs, Spurs, Kings and Timberwolves battle it out for the WC crown will truly be an amazing thing to see.
