Dan Patrick of ESPN just ripped the NBA and David Stern a big one calling this a "big mistake" and that the NBA is "missing out" in taking advantage of the Bron/Melo express. He also said very smartass/sarcastically "oh but you get to see them in the rookie game" Melo also did an interview and said that him and Bron deserved it compared to many of the players that were selected. NBA, you just messed up and pissed a lot of people off. I will not tune in to the All-Star game.
Heres what I think about it. If the NBA wanted ratings and everything else they wanted they would pick James. If they played everything fair like they did they would pick Redd

I saw that, Melo was right, Melo said that he thought he was going to be a reserve, and he thought LeBron was a shoe in, the NBA made a big mistake.

Anthony just came out and said he deserved to be there over some of those guys, I was very impressed with what he said. I don't want to play Denver or Cleveland this week if I am another team. NBA is just cashing in on Friday, to go along with Saturday and of course the game on Sunday, simple as that.
If TD palyed in the All-Star game as a rookie LeBron sure as hell should play as a rookie. I hate to say it but I hope someone gets hurt so he will get on the roster
Just saw an interview with LeBron and he said he felt like he had the numbers and a good amount of wins, but that is just the business. I think he knows that Stern wants to cash out on Friday's rookie game by giving the fans the only chance to see them play there. Rookies are winning this game, no if's, and's, or but's about it.
I agree w/ you on two things KJ: Carmelo is a lot more cocky than LeBron, but i like that about him, i dont think every player should be humble, Carmelo knows he and Bron should of been all stars and he is saying it. and Yes the rookies will win, with a crew of Melo, Bron, Wade, Hayes, Hinrich, and Bosh playing..that is a lot of talent against Amare, who has been injured a lot, Yao, Boozer, and others...i take the rookies

I really have no interest in watching the All-Star game this year. I will just be watching the Skill competition and Rookie game. I guarentee that I would snooze through the All-Star game.

C'mon people - no denying LeBron has been great this year, but his stats don't demand he get in, they put him under consideration, and in the end he'll go down as a snub like Elton Brand and Zach Randolph. There are snubs every year, that's no reason to hate on guys like Michael Redd who deserve to be All-Stars (I have seen the same with AK47 in the other thread). If the NBA wants the ASG to be one big marketing opportunity, then let the fans pick all 12 players on each roster. The only guy who didn't deserve it in the East is Magloire, so complain about the NBA and their stupid positional rule. LeBron's having a great season, but he is just an All Star snub. Players before have been, players in the future have been, but it's no reason to boycott the game or anything like that. It happens, believe it or not, and it will happen again. And considering Brand and Randolph missed out in the West, Melo is NOT an All-Star putting up 18 and 7. PS - I see a lot of references from experts in this thread. Consider this: Marc Stein, perhaps ESPN's most prominent writer, labelled Michael Redd a 'No brainer' selection.
It's not a knock on a player like Redd, Pierce, or Magloire. James has just hands down been better, more popular, and has had more of an impact that those 3 this season. You want to compare Redd to someone? Think about his twin brother, Allan Houston, and he has never been an All-Star despite appearing in 22 career NBA Playoff games, averaging 20.9 ppg in those games. Or ask the Bucks if they would be interested in a trade, James for Redd, sure they would reject that one Sorry mate, just had to go there, he is just a younger Allan Houston. James does so much more, people just ignore assists numbers again too.
